My Kentucky Oaks Day Picks

These are my early picks for the day though I will nail them down probably Thursday night but from my early look at the card these are what I first walked away with. Kentucky Oaks, Derby, Preakness and depending on first two Belmont as well as Breeder Cup days there is a large amount of dead money in the pool so I usually make my bets a little bigger to account for the better returns. Have not looked at the M/L yet just the past performances but Usually I have a little chalk, a little mid priced and a couple longer horses in my top picks. Anyway thought I would share my early picks. I will update Thursday night if anything changes after I put a lot more time in it.

Good luck with it. Maybe if things otherwise go well, I'll try betting some trifecta box. Seems Churchill has $1 minimums, so it's expensive at $24 a race for four horses, assuming all lose. I've never bet on Kentucky Oaks before but have heard about it vaguely. What is your thought process in these races picking these horses?

I didn't play, but have seen one trifecta with your picks hitting, race 1 $.50 trifecta $88.65. Thought at first there were two in the first five, but only one. $88.65 would pay for a few $12 bets if they were played, unsure how I had thought the tris were $1 minimums.

Noticed if people were just playing numbers boxed, the Syracuse area code(315)was a $408.65 winner in race 2(5/1/3) Columbus(614) $246.95(1-4-6) in race 6. I never play like this, but always find it interesting in hindsight how much blind luck pays at times.

I have doubles 4 and 14 in the Oaks to 6 and 9 in the derby

Sorry I had a water pipe bust and did not get to handicap yesterday or today to busy cleaning up water. A lot of scratches and the muddy track changed a lot of things including turf races.

Race 9 mostly scratches
Race 10 top winner 4.00
will update the last couple races when it is over. Hard to say how my picks would have been if I had been able to handicap them to include weather etc last night

Will be handicapping the derby tonight. Bankroll for tomorrow is 2k. Hopefully I don't have to use it :)

Troop you should start a horse picks thread and update often. Plenty here like to look in on those who document. You seem to have a knack.
