Anybody else have an opinion on William Hill putting out a $5 Ties Lose yellow $100,000 parlay card for the Super Bowl? Pick 15 correct, and win $100K............. with only 30 possible selections to chose from, you don't get to pick which props to play and must play each one, including the obvious favorites that will most probably fall on the tie. Guess sometime the juice just ain't enough, they want it all!! In my opinion a pure predatory hustle by these guys.

If you want to call lotteries or similar things a hustle then mathematically long shot things like this are not necessarily the best "House Edge", however it makes for some nice stories. http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id/14425948/detroit-lions-monday-night-football-upset-completes-epic-long-shot-parlay
If each selection were exactly a 50:50 proposition then the true odds would be 32767 to 1 - I'm guessing there will be some matches where stating a whole number means the chances of one side exceed 50%. Indeed if the chances of winning each selection exceeded 51.7% the bet would be in the player's favour. So they probably can't afford ties win.

If they put a gun to your head and force you to pay $5 then yes, this is scummy.
I doubt any single person is betting more than $50 on these, and most are just firing $5 at it.
There are far more scummy things going on....

Point being, without any choices as to which prop to play and which to leave alone, odds almost guarantee prop like over/under 3 FGs or over/under 2 Ints will hit on a tie, and so long as one outcome ends tied, everyone loses and house pays out nothing.

If someone is betting more than $50 on these, then they deserve to lose it.

Aww, if you can't trust William Hill, who can you trust ? Ooops. forgot about 2005 when the Office of Fair Trading made William Hill sell 78 of the 624 Stanley shops due to anti-competitive practices .

Being forced to make this bet only cost you $5, that's less than I've given to panhandlers this year. Consider yourself fortunate that getting hustled in Las Vegas didn't cost you any more than $5

What makes you think I played that sucker card? No thanks. And as to the amount, good for your altruistic ways my man, but I imagine its all relative and those cards are meant for either the idiots, or the degenerates... Less fortunates who can't comprehend a scam. Lets see, not only must you pick 15 correctly, but if any one key number hits on it's average everyone loses. Predatory

Because you're whining about it.

It is no more predatory than any other casino game. If anyone tries to play any other game without understanding the odds, they will be very fortunate to lose no more than $5. For a bet that remains live for four days it seems far less predatory than the slots or tables
