Was looking at the UFC 190 odds. As usual, they are 30-40 cent lines.
However, it is remarkable at least to me, that a woman fighter can be a 15 to 1 favorite. Is real money really wagered on these fights, especially at this type of lay(no pun)?

I think a "lock" would be more so with women, since many don't have the ability to KO and very few can do it with one punch, so that element of chance is diminished. Also, RR is legitimately a high level athlete. As popular as she is, there's no real foundation for womens MMA and a very shallow talent pool. That means she's often fighting women who really have almost no shot because they are practically amateurs. Like a college football team playing an NFL team. This happens a lot in boxing too, though for different reasons.
I've bet on UFC a bit. It was one of the few sports a layman could beat just by good handicapping for a long time, though I think it's getting harder now.

Actually, they stop the fights rather quickly, both men and women. In this case however I did agree with the stoppage. The loser was obviously knocked out and to remind, there is no "standing eight count". The fighter can pounce on the person they have just knocked down and seriously hurt them if the fight isn't halted.

She wasn't fighting back so thats why it was stopped but it was good stoppage. This ain't boxing she could have gotten seriously hurt from a ffew more seconds of Rhondas beatdown.
I wish I could have bet on Rhonda! She's a beast in the ring. maybe the only person to give her a good fight is cyborg

Anytime a fighter lands face first without putting hands down to break the fall, the fight is over. She was knocked out cold.

I knew she was going to get knocked out but every idiot i know told me not to bet cause Rousey was going to "dominate" obviously they cannot see technique and how Rousey is careless and just goes for the rush takedown.... Cannot do that against a pro boxer. Grats to all who grabbed the +1300 line on that.

It was obvious after you saw them at the weigh in the size comparison. Rousey literally only had one chance which was takedown and only accomplished one poor one. Holms was too fast from the get go. I was biased placing a bet since last week my drunk father told me to bet on dan henderson but i havent seen mens ufc in a while to know it was a shit bet.

I had 200 on it, I wanted to put way more not because I thought that she would win but I thought the line was completely over inflated especially when if you know the back story - ufc sought out her opponent to join the ufc strictly because they thought it would be a good match- I didn't think they would go out and recruit someone that was 13-1 - they could have thrown anyone up there if that was the case

Wow was just watching holy fields 30/30 on ESPN and was thinking to myself eventually the long shot comes in (buster vs Tyson, holy field vs Tyson)

You will get better than even money. Holm didn't just win with a single lucky kick. She dominated the entire fight. Rousey looked like she was 'punching like a girl', while Holm looked like she was punching like a boxer. I can easily see Rousey retiring rather than subjecting herself to another beatdown like last night.

Rousey might have the worst corner coach in the world. He told her she did great after the first round and sent her out to do the exact same thing.
She got pummeled in the first round. You don't chase around a top level professional boxer. This fight was amazingly similar to Tyson/Douglas. From bad strategy to bad corner to dominating fighter being picked apart.

Axel - I want to see what the line is on the rematch before making any bet, I suspect Rousey will be favored and I can a better price then even money, but I think Holly Holm wins the rematch.

So glad she lost. Commercials were tooting this match as once ever instead of the normal once in a lifetime. So sick of hearing about her.

As high as +1150 yesterday morning, closed around +550. Ticket writer last night said he didn't have a single bet on Rousey all day.
google search for "Rousey Holm rematch odds", says someone put it up at -175 Rousey, +150 Holm. If that were put up in Vegas there would be a few max bets on Holm as soon as anyone knew where to find it.

NO I certainly wouldn't allow someone to see the proper line and then if it went their way decide to make the bet.

Him saying "I knew it" is why I made that offer. I wanted a true blind bet. That was his chance to go back in time and make the bet again. Not after him seeing the odds. I have absolutely no opinion, I didn't see the fight and I only know about RR's reputation and watched a few highlights of her past fights.

Ide take that bet axel for like 50 bucks at the rematch. Rousey just was the first to be like that as a female. She isn't the best just beat the prior best to get there. Holm having a stand up game frustrated rousey to the point of mistakes. Let me know what you think of the fight after you watch it. To me Holm made her look like an amatur.

If Ronda is an underdog and I can somehow figure she's going to actually "shoot" for a take down or two in the 2nd fight, I'd still bet huge on Ronda. I still think Ronda would decimate her on the ground, and get decimated standing up (as she did). We saw a completely 1 sided fight because of the horrendous coaching and lack of take down attempts from Ronda.
p.s. I bet on a couple fights that night, and won, but I did not bet on the Ronda/Holm fight =).
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I think the money would go to Rousey. The public betting has a lot more influence than the Sharps and the public will think it was a fluke that she got beat.

I'm not sure how many times Rousey took a hard blow to the head in that fight. Seems like there were several. I don't know that you can condition your noggin no matter what shape you're in. I saw a vine of one of those; it wasn't pretty. I think she would have definitely needed a plan not to get hit in the head so hard, above all else.
