My brother & I were talking about this in relation to college football, since those games can produce some massive point spreads when a quality team plays a lesser opponent. He maintained that you should never give more than 21 points, no matter what. I had to remind him that back in 2008 I won with TCU -32.5 vs Wyoming. (The final was something like 57-0.)
What's the most points your team has ever covered for you?

great post!
Nebraska in, I think in the late 70's, was a 49 point favorite and I bet a friend that they would win by 60. He took the bet, can't recall the wager, and they won something like 72-0!
I have never done that since.

Just this past year I had the opposite result with TCU. The Horned Frogs were favored by 30 points against my UNLV Rebels, so I took the points and went with my team. TCU crushed UNLV by something like 33 points. The bet seemed wise at the time because I had the same rationale as your brother.

USC -42 vs. Washington St in 2008 was pretty silly. Everyone was betting Wazzu, too. Even sillier was USC covered by half and covered in total by 27.

It was either in 99 or 2000. Marshall was playing U of Buffalo (their 1st or 2nd year in DI). I believe the line was 53. Marshall won 70-0
