I'm interested to know if anyone has these simple stats that are perhaps useful in NHL betting ? First - what percentage of games are won by only 1 goal ?
Second - what is the ratio of games where more than 5 TOTAL goals are scored compared to games where less than 5 goals are scored ? ( commonly called the over / under score ? ) Sharing this information would be much appreciated ...

Hockey-reference.com has them, but the information is on a team-by-team basis; you have to add them up yourself.
From the start of the 1987-88 season (I think this is as far back as game-score numbers go) until now, there have been 7195 games decided by one goal in regulation.
Also, in that period, there have been 1776 games decided by 5 goals or more, and 28,507 decided by 4 goals or less - that's about a 1:16 ratio.

He asked about the over/under data. But interesting to know that blowouts happen that often.
To look up total goals per game though, I definitely wouldn't go all the way back to 87-88. Scoring was much much higher back then. The Vegas over/under back then was probably 6 or higher.
