And it supposedly happened at Motorcity Casino.
And this from an already beleaguered bullpen. You can't expect your starting pitching to go 8 or 9 innings ever game can you?
And remember when you could BUNT with two strikes and bases loaded ?
Quote: IbeatyouracesHell if I know. I quit following baseball back in the early 90's. Only occasionally watch it.
Sorry, it was more a question for everyone not specifically directed at you :). Also I had no idea you don't want baseball.
Buzz, nothing is the same as it once was but we unfortunately have to live with what we have or go without. Sort of feast or famine really :)
Quote: BuzzardDon't mean I have to watch it. Still wonder how many steroids players will get into Baseball Hall of Fame before Pete. If they ever let him in ?
You are absolutely right, you don't have to.
Steroids will forever change the game and in my opinion, they should simply be legalized and regulated in the off season. They help you heal quicker and build up muscle quicker after a serious injury.
I know this is a radical opinion but so many guys are using them in ALL sports just about, why not accept that and regulate what guys can and cannot use?
Surely steroids don't give you better hand/eye co-ordination?
Since 1991, the MLB drug policy has not allowed steroid use unless the player possessed a legitimate prescription.
Quote: BuzzardDon't take this personal, but I think you are out in left field on this one.
I know, and I won't take it personally :)
For me it is similar to the war on drugs. These wars were not designed to be won. The war on steroids will never be over. There will always be better and cleaner steroids available that will allow these guys to hide what they are doing.
You are aboslutely right about kids using steroids. That can NEVER be good or be condoned. But at the end of the day, if a kid wants to use, he is going to find a way, no matter who tells him what or how illegal it is.
This is now the world we live in. As you have rightly mentioned before, it has changed beyond all recognition.
It will be condoned if baseball says, go ahead, use them. I mean like who did not know those guys were using. Give the kids a chance to compete on talent.
Quote: BuzzardIt's always a revolution in drugs and detection. But if you make steroids legal in sports, the good kids will succumb. Plus there are lots of players who played better , hit more home runs etc in late 30's that earlier years in their careers. So steroids do improve a players ability.
It will be condoned if baseball says, go ahead, use them. I mean like who did not know those guys were using. Give the kids a chance to compete on talent.
I agree with you in theory but the practical matter of fact is that there is a huge amount of people out there (including kids) who are already using steroids. This isn't going to change. The money is simply too big for them not to take the chance.
I don't care for steroids, I simply am trying to be pragmatic about the whole situation.
