But... this is from a guy who went 0-2 today, so you might want to run out and bet the farm on Denver. lol.
I don't know yet if I will bet the game. Plenty of time for that. But I do know that I don't like Pete Carroll. Not one bit. He cheated at USC and then was able to walk away, not paying any kind of penalty, just go on signing a big contract with NFL to continue making big bucks, while USC and the incoming class, paid the penalty.
I also am pulling for Peyton. He desperately want's a second superbowl. Although he would never admit it publically, the fact that Brady has 3 and he has one, is a big problem for him. He desperately wants to at least close that gap. Even the fact that his little brother has two and he has one is an embarrassment. Again, he would never admit that. He is at great risk even playing, coming off his neck operation fusion. The wrong hit and he's got a major problem. I guess you could say that about any NFL player, but I think most players nearing the end of their career that already had won a superbowl, and had more than enough money, would have been content to walk away. The fact that he came back, putting himself at risk under these special circumstances, tells me how important it is to him, so what the hell.... I hope he gets it.
I hope your right I locked in someone at a pick-em they have SeattleQuote: speedycrapI just took Denver pick and 1.91 for $50. Also I booked someone's bet for Seattle to take Superbowl at 20-1 ($50). I need Denver.
TRUST WORTHY or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZomwVcGt0LE
Go Broncos!
I think the line will move considerably towards Denver because of all the "Manning Money" (trademark, don't steal, use or swindle....it's MINE people) :)
I went -2.5 to -3 Denver but I'm in agreeance with a few here, the line will start at -3.5 Denver
what do you want to bet and how much?Quote: BeardgoatI'm interested axel.
Quote: strictlyAPI'm on Seattle if you have any interest
I would lean tow seattle as well. although I dont think its a good bet one isde or the other
The last similar 2 games I remember....
NE perfect regular season/scoring machine vs much better defense GIANTS.......giants win
St louis(greatest show on turf potent offense)....vs NE better defense......NE wins
the old saying that offense wins regular season games, and defense wins superbowls may be true here.
If seattle hits manning early and often...it will be a much different game than Denver folks are used to.
Quote: beachbumbabsOk, I'll admit it. I only care about Denver because I want to see Peyton Manning win it for John Elway. They were brave enough to boot Tim Tebow when he deserved it; I want to see that pay off. So, go Broncos! (first and last time I'll ever say that in public).
Being on a sports betting board allows me to say without feeling guilty, that I dont care what these multi multi millionaies do......it only makes me feel good when they secure a win for me.
THe minimum wage in theNFL is 400k....win or lose these people will do just fine in the off season.
Oh yeah fans will be gloating or agonizing over the superbowl win or loss ////lliving vicariously thru their multimillionaire idols...during the entire off-season
Seasoned bettors will move on 10 seconds after their bet has been decided.
When the players go home after the game to their gated communities, and nice vacations awaitng them.....its easy to move foward as well
Just like Lebron James said when askled about the people who boo him. ,,,,They can boo him all they want, but at the end of the day they go back to their mindane lives and Lebron goes back to his fairytale life.
But what James left out...................the same holds true for the people who cheer him'
Thats why I always laughed at the fairytale of New Orleans lifting up the community with a win in the wake of katrina. You have people who were homeless with kids, having lost all their possessions....you know what....that "win" wears off pretty darn quick when you turn away from the tv,and realize your kids are cold and hungry. Or turn off the tv and realize your wife is still dying of cancer. Our mundane little lives goes on....yet we are worried about hoping that a certain player gets the "props" they deserve while they are out on their yacht 2 days after the game.
Quote: AcesAndEightsGo Broncos!
Go Broncos, indeed.
I no longer watch football and couldn't care less about the SB, but Manning is a class act. One of the few people one can look up to in the NFL anymore.
But no matter who wins, time marches on, and that is the best thing of all. The average retirement age of a starting QB is 38. Come opening kickoff next year, Manbag Brady will be 37.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. It's almost over...
Stupid f$%^ing Patriots.
And really, the Hawks needed some help from the referees to win that one. And Peyton will not make the same mistaes that Kaepernick did with the turnovers.
If I were to guess a score, I think it would be a 34-20 Broncos.

In fairness, $400k really isn't that much for a short career. If you play in the NFL for 5 years at $400k per year, you are not saving enough for retirement. Especially when you consider that many of your friends are super-wealthy, so going out with them is EXPENSIVE, and you don't want to be the guy on the team who doesn't hang out with anyone.
And, of course, your biggest expense is taxes. If you live in a state like CA or NY you will not take home much more than half of that money. If you are lucky enough to have a 5-year career, that leaves you with a million dollars, after taxes, before any other expenses. This is the same amount of money that someone who takes home $30k / year after taxes for 35 years will make, and no one calls that guy rich.
Considering the physical toll of playing, I consider most professional athletes to be under-paid (this doesn't include the superstars, who make several million dollars per year)

I agree, Axiom; considering their playing life is very limited compared to almost any career (child actors have a longer career than the average NFL-er, I guess, but roughly comparative).
In the history of superbowl, when the best defense in the league plays they are 10-2, when the best offense in the league plays they are 12-8
I guess in recent memory...I can think of off the top of my head....the undefeated patriots and the greatest show on turf rams both lost.

Not only are the Broncos the #1 offense this year, they are the best offense in NFL history (most points scored). I'm not sure where this Seahawks team ranks in the history books for points allowed, but I'm assuming they're not #1 or we would have been hearing about it.
Now obviously that doesn't mean they are going to win for sure, but it's another data point. I think it's a great match-up and should be a very good game. The 'Hawks not playing at home is a big disadvantage to them, but the weather will almost certainly favor the Seahawks.
OPEN at Denver +1
TUES. (Jan.20 Monday-night line) at Denver -2
O/U = 48
Then the Super Bowl is populated by fat cats and the 20 year fan is out of the picture. People all over Colorado talk about MY Denver Broncos. They are Mr. Bowlen's Broncos. And if the Denver tax payers did nor replace Mile High Stadium, that team would have been on a bus somewhere else.
Peyton Manning played for the Indianapolis COLTS. The Colt were later replaced by the Cleveland Browns. Root for whoever the hell you want, but they are not YOUR team.
Denver -3.5
Quote: 98ClubsMy local newspaper shows the Glantz-Culver Line as
OPEN at Denver +1
TUES. (Jan.20 Monday-night line) at Denver -2
O/U = 48
This is pretty typical. I think pretty much everywhere had Seattle -1 right after the championship games, but a ton of money came in on the Broncos. At Bovada it is now Denver -3, and I believe Denver -2.5 at a lot of other online books. Not sure about the B&M casinos in Vegas.
Also the tag on manning that cold weather affects him will be hanging over denvers chances of winning.
In the NE/STL superbowl 10 years ago....STL had at the time one of the best offesnses of all time. They were 14 point faves....and they lost outright.
In cold weather and the seattle run game.....that might tip the scales to keeping manning on the sidelines with extended drives by seattle.
Right now they are calling for temps around 32 for the "high"...if thats correct ..then at gametime when the sun is about to set.....it will be below freezing.
If there is wind..it will be worse.
The setting seems to favor seattle.
Denver might be able to run, just like New Orleans.....because seattle has to respect manning and cant key in on the run like they did against SF.
So if there is alot of running......maybe under is the play?
Quote: zhoutangclanI'm also hoping for a Denver -3.5 so I can take Seattle's + side. My friends are all betting on Denver and we'll be in Vegas so I feel pressure to bet the same side as them so we can all root for the same team.. But my gut is telling me to go with Seattle.
Id go Seattle just to be "that guy" the only big problem then is youre buying dinner when The Hawks crush the donks.
Heres what I am thinking, in the last 5 games, Denver only got over 30 points twice, this is after starting out the season scoring over 30 points in 11 of their 1st 13 games. It seems to me that teams have figured out how to slow them down, and theres no one better to slow down a pass only team, than the best defensive secondary that we have seen in years.
With the over/under being at 40 (I thought that's what I saw here) Id definitely take the over.
Quote: AxelWolfwhat do you want to bet and how much?
Axel and I have come to an agreement. I've taken the Seahawks to win, no points. If Seahawks win he sends me $82. If Denver wins I send him I send him $75.
Quote: KeyserSozeWeather could have a big impact on the point spread for this game.
I would have been interested in points @ Seattle +3.5 or even Seattle +3. But at +2.5 or +2, I am only interested in the moneyline. I shopped around Friday and the best I could get was +120, which I bet. I thought about waiting and hoping the line went to 3 or 3.5, but I really feel like it is more likely to go the other way.
The weather forecast, 7 days out is not bad. Typical Early Feb day for northern NJ. But 7 days out is almost meaningless. If the weather changes at all, wind, rain, snow, for the worse, I think the line moves toward Seattle. I think Seattle wins either way, but in any kind of bad conditions, it might not be close. So I wagered early and am done with it.

I dunno. The public is going to be all over Denver regardless of the weather. Once they all start getting to Vegas on Friday, I don't see how the line can hold up.
Cool, but don't make me send Vinny to your house.Quote: BeardgoatAxel and I have come to an agreement. I've taken the Seahawks to win, no points. If Seahawks win he sends me $82. If Denver wins I send him I send him $75.
