I have been sucking so badly I asked my wife to randomly pick 5 numbers between 1-60 and used those to make my picks this week.

Last weekend, Week 14, there were 859 points scored in one weekend, which was a new NFL record.

Well, with one game to go there have already been a total of 810 points scored this weekend! So if the Lions and the Ravens can combine for 50 or more points (which is certainly possible... the line is 48) last weekend's record will have lasted just one week. Amazing.

A few observations:

Over the past two weeks, TGarrettCPA is now on a 11-0 run, with a pick on the Ravens pending.

During this same span, Ten2Win is on a 10-2 run.

Over the past three weeks Babs is on a 14-3 run, with a pick on the Lions pending.

I lost yet another Confidence Pick. I think that's 7 of 8 now.

AyeCarumba only finished 3-3 this week, but that was enough to reclaim the #1 spot. StrictlyAP went 2-4 and thus dropped to #2. It will be fun to see how they both finish up over the the next two weeks. I think the contest will go to one of them, although EdgeLooker isn't far behind.

By the way, we've now lost a total of four players:

Minnesota Joe hasn't played since Week 1.
NCFatCat hasn't played since Week 5.
Rstrata hasn't played since Week 11.
MidwestAP hasn't played since Week 12.

I don't know if we'll see Joe again. He hasn't even logged in since September 7th, but again, I want to stress that (aside from a mere matter-of-fact statement as to who pays or does not pay, and the fact that no-pays can't play anymore) I'd really prefer if we not speculate as to why these people disappear.

NCFatCat was on as of December 9th, but has not posted since September 5th. He has 217 lifetime posts, so I imagine he will probably pay.

RStrata played last year, so even though he only has two posts, he presumably paid. He hasn't been on since Mid-November.

MidWestAP has 196 posts and last logged in on December 13th. He most recently posted on December 10th, and he also played last year, and I could almost guarantee that he paid.

Maybe we should have some sort of, "Buddy system," just in general, where one person exchanges numbers with another. I imagine there are a few people on here who would at least like to know about it if I am dead, and vice-versa...

Well, when I futzed up those 2 weeks in the middle, I pretty much figured I was out of it, and I still think that's the case, but it's fun to come on a little. Buzz made this thing sort of personal with me from the start (in a fun way) so I've been keeping an eye on where I am with respect to him, and what do you know; we're right together in the standings. Not a good week for him to miss, though I suppose he could have gone sub-.500 and hurt his standing; never know now.

OTOH, Nice job, Miplet! And TC! A lot riding on tomorrow's game, now, where Miplet will leapfrog me if I lose, and won't if I win. Also with it pending the other way for TC to have another perfect week.

Tomorrow night's game will be important for you, but if you win that one, you could very reasonably come out of it the winner. I think you'd be .03, or so, down at that point which is roughly how much movement you will have had with our new leader, AyeCarumba, this week.

It's going to be an interesting finish, anyway.

That's highly impressive, what a comeback! Actually, that would put him at .575, would it not? I know AyeCarumba should still be in the .590's after 3-3 this week, but it looks like we have a pack of about 5-7 players the last two weeks and it is really anyone's competition to win!

WOW, I dnk pay attention to that. I almost took my "Bye" week this week as I thought the lines were really tough. I have used a confidence twice and lost both with out those I think I would be winning. Also I have not had a perfect week. Lets see if I can get them the next two!

Yes, I dropped out a couple weeks ago, was involved in a multi-day poker tournament, and completely forgot to send my picks in. Since it was my second miss, and I wasn't going to take an 0-5 week, I stopped playing. I'll send the winner his/her money with my congratulations!

Cross thread convergence: I went to the nfl.com scores page because I thought there was an error in my result from last week (sadly not.) There is a big McNuggets ad on the left side of the web page. I felt a little ill looking at them and thinking about Mission's challenge.

Not sure if anyone here is also playing in the ESPN pigskin pickem against the spread, but I'm currently ranked 179th out of over 110,000 entries with 127 points. 127 wins and 97 losses 56.69%. i have no chance to win (2 weeks left) as the leader is 139-85 62.05%, but just wanted to show how hard it is for anyone to hit 60%.

I'm assuming that Mission is running late with his picks as he is in Vegas! I'd be interested to see everyone's picks before the games start.

Saw something earlier this week after he got there where he said he was having internet issues. Also, his plan in Vegas was to hit as many casinos as possible, sign up as a new member, and use whatever coupons etc. as a low-roller experiment, so I hope he's either concentrating on that or traveling home. Seems much more likely it's one of those than anything's wrong.

That seems unnecessary to me; if you just post them all together under your name, any discrepancies could be proven with a screen shot after that. But your usual cut-n-paste ought to do.

Mission, do we have an expected time when you are going to post this week's picks and results. My placing will affect my final picks for this weekend.

A few minutes after tonight's game has finished, I will be able to post the results and current standings. (Assuming, of course, that Mission posts everyone's picks before then.)

(Note: Last week Mission asked me to post the results and standings for the remainder of the season, and he will continue to post the spreads and accept everyone's picks via PMs.)

Update: I checked and I see that Mission still hasn't even read my PM message, with my picks, so he's still probably in Vegas with limited internet access. Thus, I don't think we'll see everyone's picks (and thus the results and standings) anytime tonight.
