I know this is going to be a dumb question.....but here it goes. Do they run thoroughbreds in races on back to back days? I would think not, but not being an avid horse race fan I'm not sure. Is it maybe a couple of times per week, generally?

The same horse is not run back to back days. This is not just for thoroughbreds, but also for quarter horses and arabians.
These days, I think that the briefest interval between races for a single horse might rarely be as short two weeks.

I have seen a horse come back on three or four days rest, but that's very rare. 3 weeks for an average horse is average. It used to be more.
