I had a wager on a college basketball game today that wasn't on TV, so I was kind of following along on the computer as I watched the NFL playoffs. The game was Canisius and Iona. As I followed the game online, I couldn't help notice all the three point shots being made by both teams. At the conclusion, I checked the box score. Canasius made 12 of 28 attempts, while Iona hit nearly 50% at 16 for 33. That is 28, 3 point shots made out of 61 attempts by both teams combined. 28 three point shots made. Doesn't that seem like a lot??? Incidentally, I had canasius +7.5 and they lost 97-87, so I could have used just one more three pointer. lol

The leading team in Three-Point Shooting percentage this year is Creighton at .453 for the season pursuant to:

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/statistics/team/_/stat/3-points/sort/threePointFieldGoalPct

The teams above combined to shoot the three-ball at .459 for one game, so that doesn't seem unreasonably high.

Canasius is 17th for the season at .396 on threes, and Iona is also tied for 20th at .390 on three-pointers for the season, so that makes it even less unusual. Furthermore, both teams rely heavily on the three-pointers, you'll notice that Iona ranks fifth in attempts and Canasius tenth at 431 and 402, respectively.
