i observe this as i get sucked into freeplay on online slots. I frequent betmgm and every new slot that they offer has some kind of near miss mechanic, and sometimes the near miss mechanic is placed into a few different types of near misses on the same slot.

dude you are awesome who else knows what i post on this website and can bring it in as a subliminal joke in another thread. YOU EVEN PREDICTED MY POKER WIN IN 10TH PLACE.

i truly think you are and have the same type of humor that i like IRL. I can tell by your posts we would be shit posting juggernauts IRL if we were friends lol

Near-miss mechanics are everywhere now and they've gotten pretty sophisticated. It's not just a symbol stopping one position away anymore — some games have layered near-miss systems where the anticipation music kicks in, the reels slow down dramatically, and you get three separate moments where it "almost" hits before resolving to nothing. The psychological research on near misses is pretty well established: they activate the same reward pathways as actual wins and extend play time significantly. What's interesting is how online slots have pushed this even further than land-based because there's no regulatory body scrutinizing the math the same way. Once you start noticing the patterns it's hard to unsee them.
