"We asked a longtime casino manager why casinos would mind vultures if they aren’t cheating. The machines are being played by novices and experts alike, the game holds whatever it holds, what’s the issue?
The issue, it turns out, has a lot do with casinos wanting all their customers to have the opportunity to hit bonuses and jackpots.
Slot vultures aren’t stealing jackpots, they’re stealing fun."
Yeah right.
I think it's because they walk out with the $ instead of losing it back into the casino like the ploppies

I'm not sure what they were going for here, but this seems like another incomplete, softball "interview" given to the "longtime casino manager".Quote: 100xOddshttps://www.casino.org/vitalvegas/casinos-are-cracking-down-on-slot-vultures-reasons-may-surprise-you/

I guess they didn't want to mention who the casino manager was or what casino it was at?
"When casinos detect vulture behavior, they have the option of pulling the plug on that player’s perks."
"MGM Resorts dove headlong into its player data and informed advantage players (in some cases, “lifetime winners”) they are welcome to play, but the casino company isn’t going to treat them to same way as their typical customers anymore."
I guess they forgot to mention that they have the right to toss people out, and oftentimes do.
Not one place in this article do they mention trespassing players; they only call it a Crackdown.
"Also, vultures have become more aggressive recently, often hovering over machines primed for a hit, and intimidating regular guests into leaving the machine."
They find it very strange that they didn't mention that those types of tactics won't be tolerated.
It would have been nice if they mentioned that not all, and probably not even a majority of the vultures/ Advantage players engage in any nefarious tactics towards regular customers.

That's a problem of perception. It's true that most of the slot APs don't use those tactics. But at the same time, probably all of the slot APs they've had security incidents with and had to 86 had been using those tactics. The ones who just speedwalk through a casino, stop and play a machine and then leave they don't know much about and might not even recognize as APs. So from their perspective as many as 100% of slot APs drop drinks and cigarettes on people, or the worse ones I don't want to mention, and that's a liability for the casino. And they may be assuming that the APs they haven't seen do that just haven't done it yet or been caught at it yet, that it's a universally used tool of the trade that will eventually be used by all of them.

Having worked 30 years in the casino industry the reason is this: " because they walk out with the $ instead of losing it back into the casino like the ploppies"
“A high-stakes blackjack player named Don Johnson won millions from Atlantic City casinos in 2011.
Over a period of six months, Don Johnson won over $15 million playing blackjack, specifically targeting the Tropicana, Borgata, and Caesars casinos.
Johnson's success led to casinos modifying the rules he played under, and some ultimately banning him. His story gained significant attention and cemented his place as a prominent figure in the blackjack world.”

I think this is fairly well known. It's not really about blackjack (though that's what he played); it was about the loss rebates. The Wikipedia article completely misses the point.

Isn't that why Silver Strike machines became nearly obsolete. People walked with the coin instead of playing back their "win"

I was under the impression that the metal melt value exceeded the face value of the token.

They lowered the amount of silver in them, as the originals had almost 7/10s of an ounce but later ones had just under half, iirc.
