If the progressive meter moves without any one playing does it mean it is a linked progressive? It is a stand alone machine but it moves randomly slowly. I have asked but they say it is a stand alone. machine. The theme has an animal with the word " majestic"

I can't speak for other states, but the Nevada Gaming Regulations say this about standalone progressive machines (as well as linked progressives):
"Progressive payoff schedule means a game or machine payoff schedule, including those associated with contests, tournaments or promotions, that increases automatically over time or as the game(s) or machine(s) are played."

Some machines the progressive meter will keep on spinning after someone finishes playing.
Especially if the previous player was playing max bet and playing fast. So it could be a stand alone

Often, the display shows less than what is actually awarded. This allows the meter display to continue to creep forward ever so slowly even when nobodys playing the game.
It will speed up when players are on the machine, but it will never catch up unless the machine is inactive for a very long time.
When the jackpot is hit, the award shown in the jackpot payout box on screen is typically more than what the meter shows.

My main goal is to determine if the said machine which appears as a standalone progressive is actually a standalone progressive and NOT a linked progressive with other linked machines physically located somewhere else .

It's not rocket science. The casino could probably even just flat out tell you if it is linked. Beware, the machine might be seeded higher with an appropriate change in odds and might not be what you think it is.Quote: SgMy main goal is to determine if the said machine which appears as a standalone progressive is actually a standalone progressive and NOT a linked progressive with other linked machines physically located somewhere else .

One way is to sit and watch it when no one is playing. If the progressive moves... it's linked.

As started earlier a stand alone progressive can increment for a long time while empty to catch up on the prior play.
