Is there a better time of the day to play slots? I've been losing lately whenever I play at night but winning when the casino is less crowded like early in the morning.
My bestie and I drove 8 hours each way last weekend and couldn't do anything right playing at night. When morning came we were out of money. :(
Someone said we should learn table games. Any suggestions?
Try playing video black Jack. It's much cheaper than a live table, and earns comps like a slot machine.
Driving for hours and playing all night isn't a great combination. How was the ride home?
I am 99.54% sure you allready have.
Someone also said she should learn to play table games as well.
She loves to mention someone said.
For that matter, the machines near the entrances aren't set up to may more (so people walking by will see more winners and be more tempted to start playing themselves); that's a myth.
Quote: billryanI have no idea why, but I do better playing slots better when rested and sober. Try getting a good rest after you drive eight hours.

Thanks everyone. We did do a little drinking. Lol. The ride home was a lot quieter than the ride to. Lol. Problem is I'm not near any casinos. The closest one is about 2 1/2 hours. It's Indian and I don't even know if they have video blackjack.
We're planning a vegas trip in October but wow! We don't mind driving but 18 hours? I don't know. My ex BF offered to drive but that might not be a good idea. Lol.
If it happens I'm going to have lots of questions. Also going to New York soon. Anything good there?

I think you got it!
Yes, there is the secret switch and the casino owners hire this young kid just out of school to flip the switch at the right time and trust that he won't invite his friends over to profit from it. The owners, managers and auditors are all okay with this arrangement since they sleep better at night that way knowing their pension plan earnings are safe.Quote: LoneStarLylaIs there a better time of the day to play slots?

A woman after my own heart! :D I also am inclined to play slots! Welcome to WOV! :D But to answer your question seriously, there is something called the Random Number Generator that determines whether you win or lose. Sometimes the RNG is good and you win a lot of money and sometimes the RNG is crap and you lose a lot. People think that Slot technicians can just switch a flip in seconds and make the RNG turn into crap but they can't. They have to fill out a lot of paperwork and have Gaming approve them before they do anything to machine. That could take weeks.
There is also a myth that new machines are good and payout better, and after they get about a month old, they turn to crap. Here is what is happening. More people are interested in playing brand new games, let's say Black Panther The Movie, not the Activist Group ;) slot just came out today. People who loved the very popular movie will want to take a crack at it. They put in $5 Max Bet and win like $1,000 on the "Pick a Black Panther!" Bonus. They also win a lot of money on the Black Panther spins.
They are winning full lines/reels of The Black Panther, and are getting lots of $500 wins. The RNG is working really well. Let's say after a month the RNG turns to crap. You will hear people bemoan that Black Panther slot was paying out so well when it first came out, but now it's a money vacuum. They start to ignore the slot and Gaming takes it off the floor. All along it's been the RNG who determines whether you win a lot of money or lose a lot of money. Maybe Black Panther is a bad example judging by the fact that it is a licensed movie and the Casinos pay to have anything or most things with a license and want to make a profit on it.
I'll get to the 89 percentage thing now. Let's say you are The Money Pit Casino. You have spent 3 million to have the rights to have 3 Black Panther slots. You want to make a profit on the slot, so you fill out a lot of paperwork and Gaming allows the slot technicians to put the slot at 89 percent. You want your gamblers to win some money and have fun but you know you will not stay in business long if every spin is a big winner. At 89 percent, some gamblers will win big but not all and you made 10 million on the Black Panther slot machines, a 7 million profit before they are removed from your Casino due to lack of interest.
Have you tried the video poker, Nathan? Or how about video blackjack? If I could win at one of those then maybe I cou use those winnings to play my favorite slots. Coming home even isn't so bad is it? Lol.
I have to get some things done. It's going to hit 100 today. Is it hot in Vegas?
Quote: LoneStarLylaNathan, thank you for the nice welcome! I found this site by googling video poker odds and up came Wizard of Odds. So I heard that video poker was better than slots. That may be true but I want to have fun too and video poker just doesn't seem like it compared to my Sizzling Sevens and Double and Triple Diamonds.

You're welcome!:D I tried Video Poker and lost my money as I didn't know what I was doing. ;)

Hi Nathan,
Could you explain what you mean by that? I'm not feeling very welcome here. :( Leaving for work now. I'll check back when I get home at 4. Have a great day. :)

Nathan has a flair for that. Slots are her domain.... In an ancient thread, a mischievous poster called Aimee21 trolled the board. Nathan engaged her in conversation but later claimed to feel that SHE felt foolish.... Yup. Nathan is now female.
Some other members are a bit wary of newbies like yourself. I'm not. I see your IP location matches your claimed geographical location, so I DON'T suspect you of being a previous mischief maker, nor of be an alter ego of any existing member.
So again... Welcome.
Can you guys tell if one is using a VPN?Quote: OnceDearWelcome to the forum.

Perhaps you can just google an IP and see if its a VPN? Not really sure how all that works. Are there any good ways to mask the use of a VPN. I'm more interested in this information when it comes to online gambling.
I have to believe there is a good chance LSL and Nathan are the same person or someone is trying to make us think they are. I may have been wrong one time so there's a chance I could be wrong.

Yes and no to all those aspects. For some but not all VPN service providers, the IP address can be identified as such. A good way to mask use of a vpn is to create your own vpn server, which is something I've done. mine's not on any list of vpn service providers $:o)
I understand your suspicion about LSL/Nathan/Kentry. I don't share it at this time.
We all know you are not WON. If you are not LSL you need to go all ham on her because she is encroaching on your territory. This forum isn't big enough for the both of you.Quote: NathanI am not Kentry, I am not LonestarLyla, I am not WON. :/

Come on with the Andrew jokes. Andrew was a one time thing I said on the fly and for some odd reason it stuck. I said on another website,
"I am a female! Really! My name is Tasha! Not Andrew or anything like that!"

Thank you for the welcome! I'm not a very knowledgeable gambler but came here to learn. I want to go to Vegas before the end of this year and will be in New York in a few weeks partly work related. I was going to ask advice on the NY casinos.
But I'm not feeling welcome when the number 2 poster makes fun of me and makes accusations. I've already gotten accusatory private message too from someone who I won't name.
I'm reading up on old posts that were pointed out to me and I'm starting to see a pattern. If I'm not wanted here I will stop posting.

Don't leave, Lyla. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I may have crossed the river and I'll admit I jumped to paranoid conclusions.

Don't do that, I'm here against the wishes of a good many people. Makes it more fun.
Nathan, as apologies go, that is rubbish. You should know what it's like to have your integrity questioned. That you have been so unwelcoming to LSL, is more than unfortunate. If you have concerns about any member, flag them discretely to we mods. You are not alone in being less than welcoming to LSL. so I'd ask all in this thread to keep it nice. We were all newbies here once. If it transpires that a new user is a sock or other mischief maker, then that will become clear enough to the moderators in the fullness of time. Meanwhile, lets play nice.Quote: NathanDon't leave, Lyla. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I may have crossed the river and I'll admit I jumped to paranoid conclusions.

If you didn't know it before, you should be starting to realise that "First impressions last" and "“You Never Get A Second Chance to Make a First Impression”.
You brought so much upon yourself.
But OK. I'll drop the Andrew jokes if you drop the needling of new members.

This board is misogynistic. It’s really a shame. As for slots vs video poker vs table games, I think you should just play all of it, and switch when you get bored.

"The benefit of the doubt?"
"May have" crossed the river?
You are dripping wet.
It's bad enough having to bat down Axelwolf and his rude suspicions without you appointing yourself hall monitor.
Mosca famously said, "You start with Respect. You earn Disrespect. " LSL has done nothing to deserve the speculation and aspersions being cast here.
We do promise to make it known if there's an issue. Further accusations toward this or any other new member should be via PM. But hopefully, with more reason than anyone has listed here.
And if, by chance, you're taking your suspicions from those people you've nentioned are your "enemies", I would suggest you are listening to the wrong people. Those people get their fun from making other people upset or unhappy. Don't get played.

When I said ,"May have crossed the river," I was being self depreciative. Instead of crossing the line, I crossed a river meaning I went way past crossing a line.

Anyhow. enough has been said on this little side topic. LSL has been welcomed, walked the gauntlet, crossed the hot coals. Now maybe someone can help with her original question... something about the NY slots scene?

No, not QUIT. Just not going to blow roughly $150 on it anytime soon since I not only lost on those Lottery Numbers, I won't have a big paycheck for over 3 more months. I'm going to be back to my $20/30 Lottery budget.

Members are not allowed to discuss the contents of PM's without the sender's consent, as I understand the rule.
Given that, how is it "fair" then for a mod to request that a member send another member's PM to the mod for review and follow up action?
Mods are forum members too: shouldn't the "do not discuss contents of PM's" apply to them equally as well?

Hi Mr V,
Fair comment.
I've just checked and rule 14 says "An exception to the privacy rule is that abuses may be reported to the Wizard, JB or Mission146. We will treat it like a "coach's challenge" in the NFL."
Now, I don't know whether that was the entire set of moderators at the time (2012), but clearly the rule needs amending now that Mission is not a mod.
I'll flag this to Wizard to see if he wants to include other mods in this 'exception'
Quote: onenickelmiracleYou always have an excuse for everything.
Seriously? I'm admitting that spending $150 was way too far especially on tickets that lost and I should just stick to my $20/30 Lottery budget.
