I have recently stumbled upon the slot machine sales brochures of various manufactures released in Adobe PDF format. They give the some of the details of each particular machine which includes the approximate hit frequency, volatility and frequency of the bonus hit. Each year I play to earn a players card that has some comps that I like. My question is, first is there an easier way to find these PDF’s since I wish to play machines that have a high hit frequency and a low volatility. Second, do you think that this is a viable strategy for getting a card with the least exposure? I am aware the video poker machines have a high payback percentage but I get bored fairly quickly with them.

They can be somewhat hard to find. IGT often has pdfs of "Media Sheets", but they always don't list everything in numbers. But you can usually find them by googling the slot name and "igt media sheet". Here is the media sheet for "Dolly", which they claim has a high hit frequency and low variance.

Another low variance game, "Fiesta Chihuahua", a math clone of "Cats". But the bonus is also has a low frequency.

As for your goals, picking low-variance will help you have lower risk for big net losses for a slot game, but you're also virtually guaranteed to lose more money than what those comps are worth since low-variance slots will also make it more difficult for you to win. And yeah, playing video poker probably achieves this goal with even less money at risk. Even "gimmicky games" like Super Times Pay Poker (I personally enjoy this a lot more than regular video poker).
