I guess the title speaks for itself. If there is a machine that offers multiple denominations like 1c and 5c or 5c, 10c and 25c, to what payback will that machine be set to? Or has each denom another payback? But that would mean that a machine needs to have multiple eproms (or how are these things called?) on one board right?

The average multi-denom slot earned 5.25% in the last year vs 10.79% for pennies and 6.18% for nickels (in Clark County) So isn't it much better to play multi-denoms penny and nickel machines than normal single denom machines? Just wondering...

Depends on the unit. Some of them will be set exactly the same. Others will be slightly better at higher denominations. The problem is it's very difficult to say from public return data.

Keep this in mind, however, state slot returns also lump in video poker. So, the percentage of coin-in at the nickel level will be significantly biased by video poker as people are more likely play multiline nickel video poker, Super Times Pay Poker, Ultimate X, etc. than they do nickel video slots. But at the penny level, video poker coin-in is dwarfed by the massive number of slots that use a penny denomination.

The video slots we put out generally offer payback percentages from 85% to 94% (no EPROM change required). Most casinos will give a little better percentage as the denomination goes up.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Ok, thank you. So that means that it does not matter whether I play single denom or multi denom pennies...

i think its more important to pick the right type of machine rather than the "denom".

for example there are penney machines that may pay put at a higher percent, but never in large amounts. So you stay and drain your money waitinf for a bigger hit.
Some of the machines with bells and whistles and videos, and big loud bonuses are fun but not proffitable...Like batman, family guy, ghost busters, judge judy, sex and the city, wizard of oz....alot of bells and whostles, videos, surround sound in your seat....but in the end pays very little for a bonus.

But then you take the old aristocrat machines, like buffalo, pompeii, miss kitty, meteor, timberwolvles, 100 lions, 50 dragons, shamans magic....not alot of bells and whistles but you can hit 1k and feel you can walk away. For example this past thur, I won 1100 on a 75 cent spin on pompeii. I have received multiple hand payouts from the games I mentioned. betting anywhere from 80 cents to 4 dollars. per spin.

try to win more than 100 at the big new machines I mentioned with all the bonus videos and surround sound. Even older non aristocrat machines...like lucky lemmings, jackpot party, texas tina, hoot loot, ....you never will win 1000 or hand payouts. You might get lucky andwin 50 dollars on a bonus...but then you stay and give it back....and the pay tables would be lived up to.
