I did this 2 days ago. And I did it once last week, and I did it the week before and the week before too.

But, shhhhh, don't tell anyone because it didn't happen at a completely legal place. ;)

Hit 6 out of 6 on an illegal Keno machine?
Is THAT what we need to be quiet about?
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

Here's the one from 11/14. I like these 6 numbers ... and they seem to like me too :)

Please tell me the rules of the game. What is the raise feature and how does that work? Why did you get paid $800 when the game says it pays 200x on a 6/6?

I may be wrong about this, but if the first ball drawn is matched, your win is quadrupled. I don't know what the raise thing is either, fwiw.

an illegal game that involves playing a machine seems odd to me unless drawing the numbers is also done on that same machine. Me myself, I wouldnt trust that.

I seem to remember our state considering instant keno machines a long time ago, but of course they got voted down since everything does around here. If that win was off of a dollar bet I'll have to keep an eye out for something like that when I travel around! Congratulations!

CrystalMath, here are the rules:

Pick 2-10 numbers and make your bet in multiples of 25 cents.
The machine draws 10 balls and the game pauses to give you a chance to double your bet (when playing 6 numbers, most people will double if they get at least 2 hits).
Following your doubling decision the machine picks the remaining 10 balls.
If you get a hit on the last ball out of the chute, your win, if any, is mutliplied by 4.

Hence, in these games I've shown, my original bet was 50c, I doubled the bet to $1, I got all 6 for 200x, and got the last number, making it 200x4= $800.

FarFromVegas, this is a game on a machine called Pot O'Gold, which are very old; the copyright displayed on the machines I play says 1986-1999! There are usually many different games loaded onto one machine and you can switch from one to the other and back again without cashing out.

You will most likely not encounter these machines anywhere that has "regular" slot machines. They can be found in back-room gambling parlors and sometimes gas stations or convenience stores where they are allowed by law.

I'm not sure, but I would guess your state was voting on Class II gaming, not these.

Here's a picture of the main screen, showing all the different games you can pick from. The amounts displayed above the name of each games is the jackpot amount; some are progressive, some are not.

Harrah's Cherokee has them, or at least has many similar-looking antiquated machines which are labeled Pot o' Gold.

Wow, I'm really surprised to hear that these machines are in real casinos. I've seen the Game King machines, which are along the same order, but not Pot O' Gold. But then again, I haven't been to every casino in the country.

I worked up the math on this. It's not horrible for a keno at 91%. The optimal strategy is to double on 2-5 hits. If people double on 1 hit, the return drops to 79%. Also, if people wait to get 3 hits before doubling, the return is 79%.
I heart Crystal Math.

Those are the 6/5 JOB with quads at 15 for 1 if memory serves me correctly -- those machines tied with the ones in the Claridge in AC as having bad pay tables.

Look it has Spin-Jack. Those POGs can be founded in numerous Northern CA casinos. Getting parts for the machines is a pain.

You made have stumpled on the keno machines with really old pseudo-random generators.

There is a great article in "Strictlly Slot" by Mark Yoseloff (from ShuffleMaster fame), who wrote a great article about people seeing patterns in old Keno machines -- the reason was the pseudo-random generators back then weren't robust compared with today's pseudo-random generators.

That may help explain why you won twice with the same numbers.

I want to say I heard something about these. Something to the effect that balls would get redrawn at similar times of day? I don't recall all the details though.

You may be confusing them with the case in Canada where one casino started each day with the same seed. See this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_de_Montréal -- the part about Keno scandal.

I've been playing these same numbers on these same machines for almost 10 years, and I'll get all 6 at least once or twice a week and 5/6 at least once or twice per session (a session for me is about 3-4 hours per day).

As a former programmer I figured the randomness of these machines had to be crude since they've been around since 1986. I also see patterns in the way the numbers are drawn, altho I'm not sure if it's a true pattern or just something I think I see because I'm looking for it.

I have one of these POGs in my house. I got a hold of one when VP was outlawed in GA. I used to go to a back room VP place in a tobacco shop in NC that had these and the owner was quite suspicious of a player that slaughtered them on keno with the same 7 numbers. He eventually got busted when someone that had lost a fortune turned him in and he got caught up in a sting.

In addition to Cherokee NC I have seen these machines at Mystic Lake's small casino outside Minneapolis. I do not think you will see them in legit casinos regulated by standard commissions because you can set the older machines to pay out like a pull tab on certain chips. I have no idea if the newer generation machines have that setting. It looks like OP is playing on one like I have by looking at the screen.

That's why I'm surprised to hear that these machines are in "real" casinos, because they're for sale all over the Internet, and I've seen how easy it is to change their payout percentages and turn jackpots on and off, simply by using a touch-screen option.

I'd love to get hold of one, if only to be able to analyze the keno games to see if there are indeed any true patterns to the number draws, but you gotta know someone who knows someone and then drive to another state to pick it up and then I run the risk of going to jail if the wrong people found out about it. Even if the game room where I play gets raided while I'm there the most they'll do is harrass me a little before telling me to go home; apparently it's more illegal to own one of the machines than it is to play one.

In Jackson Rancheria, you CANNOT get a seat on these machines on peak hours -- those damn keno games have an "auto-play" feature so it keeps on playing so long as there are credits on the machines!!

Maybe you can shed some light on this for me. I play Cleopatra Keno at Talking Stick. I have sat and watched and played for hours, and some machines, sometimes will do a pattern starting, lets say at 12 13 14 15 16, then go to 5 15 25, next doing the 7's down - 7 17 27 37 and so forth. then 8 18 28 and then up to 9-8-7-6-5-4.... and repeat this pattern. When I check it happening, it's a quick $1,000.00 in my pocket.
However there are other times, that the same machine won't do sh*t. Can barely get three numbers in a row.
My take was that the Casino is monitoring what happening on my machine, sometimes?
Something that I read somewhere lately, talked about when the machine has covered the house's take, it will start paying out. I don't know if that's true or not.
...There is the Bet 1 factor... however I usually Bet 6, 7 or 8. times 50 cents.
