Heads up no limit poker is a whole different game. I think I am a competent poker player but would get crushed at no limit heads up.

Heads up is one situation where GTO matters the most. But I expect that Daniel Negreanu has also studied that extensively as prep for this match.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

He has said that he has been studying it for a few weeks but realizes he will be way behind. It is very hard to call a raise with 3 9 offsuit but you should a good percentage of the time in heads up.

I think they plan on playing many more sessions than that. I wouldn't be surprised if they play 30 or more sessions

I'm guessing heads up. He normally doesn't play GTO in multi-player games. Very few, if any, can play GTO with a full table.

Who is Polk? I was very active poker player, live and tournaments when I lived back in Vegas about ten years ago but really have lost interest since moving north. I know Daniel, real nice guy. Hope he wins.

Would I be a 10-1 or 20-1 dog lol? I’d be 1000-1 dog. Dnegs accepted a challenge to play Polk hu when Polk was at one time before retirement the best heads up player in the world. It’s not close and Polk is going to win this easily. Honestly I don’t see the point of this at all for Daniel. Polk is being given free money. They are playing 25k hands over many sessions of $200/$400 no limit. The player who is down after 12.5k hands can quit. This is the equivalent of McGregor vs Mayweather except that Connor had a shot of knocking out Floyd on a fluke but that’s not possible over 25k hands. Dnegs will lose at least a million.

It’s difficult to hear the name bill perkins because he’s a reflection of where I’m at as a poker player... a fish... he doesn’t believe that anyone has the hands they are repping and always loses lol

I heard they will play each other at least 4 days a week and more days if they agree. Also they will play 12,500 hands and then the loser at that time will have the option to quit or continue the last 12,500 hands.

I watched the live hands. Those were slow going but interesting. The online hands will be much faster but I believe they agreed not to show hole cards (even much later). That makes it far less interesting to me. I will be checking in from time to time to see how it’s going.
If anyone gives you 10,000 to 1 on anything, you take it. If John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I am going to be a very rich dude.
