This is more rant than comment I guess. The set-up is as follows. An old college buddy and I chat on the phone before work, sitting in traffic, almost daily. An old thing we do when one of us has an afternoon off and can make it to the poker room or even play online is to be sure the other one knows about it. We have both been playing 5+ years or so, and cannot be described as "rookies" by any standard. Maybe not experts, but not suckers for stupid beliefs, or so I thought.

This morning he tells me he won some money playing 10-6 hole cards. And his reason...................wait for it...............................

"10s and 6s had been coming up a lot on flops that day!"

Should I dump him in the river or what?

That depends.

Was the 10-6 suited?

Was he in one of the blinds? Did he get to see the flop without much additional investment?

The Wiz often mentions his lack of poker experience and abilities. When I was in Vegas, I gave him a button I had designed:

Does your friend need one?

Might have been, but the point is he limped in because "lots of 10s on the flops that day." You know, as if the cards have a memory. Same as betting black because "it is due" or playing a slot machine on tuesdays during a month without an "R" in it because it is better.

I knew what you meant.

That's why I followed up with my suited crap thing.
