Why would you want to avoid making enemies?
Here's a different lesson -- if a player is tilting against you, they will often lower their standard for calling you preflop, pay less attention to position, and, in many cases, play aggressively whenever you check. Taking advantage of this, however, can take hours.
If you somehow manage to tilt the whole table against you as soon as you sit down, you're increasing the value of any strong hand you hit.

Also be careful taking "tips" on how to play better. Some older guy was "coaching" a younger player on how to play a "better" game, and ended up intentionally giving him the wrong advice, costing him thousands of dollars. Ouch. :( The younger player felt played, but learned not to be so damn naively trusting.
