I'll be in San Diego next month (mission beach) for a bachelor party. What are the best or closest places to play poker. Looking for a 1/2 no limit game. Or maybe 4/8 limit. Anything close to those games. I remember playing at Viejas about 10 years ago but I think they are closed now? It looks like my options are Sycuan or Oceans 11?
Thanks in advance for the input and suggestions

There is a new place in Chula Vista called Seven Mile Casino I haven't been there, but it looks nice and new in the news story.... Apparently, it is near a strip club, so there is that too.

Google says Barona is 35 minutes (28 miles) from the center of San Diego. That seems reachable to me, and they have a reputation for good poker.
From barona.com:
Playing poker at Barona Casino is easy and fun! Our 15-table non-smoking poker room offers generous comps with tracked play and Gameside Dining.
Players can choose from several exciting variations of poker to play including Texas Hold 'Em: 1/2 No-Limit, 1/3 No-Limit, 2/5 No-Limit, 3/6 Limit Kill, and 4/8 Limit Kill.

If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Goat,
If you are mainly interested in poker, Oceans 11 would be your best choice.
Do you know the difference between California card clubs and California casinos?
Oceans is a card club like Bicycle and Commerce in Los Angeles. They call themselves casinos but they are not casinos in the Nevada sense. The casinos, Sycuan, Barona, and others, are all tribal operations and are like Vegas casinos.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I am interested only in poker. I am familiar with the card clubs in Los Angeles and I think Oceans 11 sounds like the best option

You didn't say what day you wanted to go. The casino card rooms are usually 1-3 tables on weekdays. Oceans will have a lot more games going. Casinos are busier on weekends but not even close to the Vegas poker rooms.
If you want an entertaining game look at the Oceans 1-1 max $40 buyin NL game. If you get a lively table it is fold or allin preflop and then deal the cards. Sometimes it's a lot of fun for not much money at risk.
