I play a 40 dollar tournament, weekly, 40.00 gets you 8k in chips plus 10 dollar add on for 4k more...12k total in chips

But what pisses me off is that the casino has promotions during the week that would give people 2k extra for free.

so all of a sudden a couple players at mytable starts with 14k vs my 12k.

The way I look at it..is if the casino wants to waive the 10 dollar add on fee, for some people...ok ...but why should I start at a disadvantage to others in total starting chips.

The other thing is..that sometimes someone "wins" a free entry into the tournament by wining some promotion during the week.

So if 3 or 4 people are playing free....does the casino put 40.00 for each in the pool? Or are the the players paying for them by acceptig less of a winning pool.

I guess the question is...is this something I should be concerned enough about to voice my opinion to the poker room people....or is this standard procedure everywhere...and something I just have to accept....or leave.

No, this is not standard procedure everywhere. How many people were in the tournament? Just combining the juice with a percentage of the players starting with 17% more chips than you and this is not an attractive tournament. The $10 for 4K more chips is most likely not going into the prize pool. It's most likely going to the dealers. And you also need to clarify if the house is paying for the players who won free entry.
