Are there any occasions when holding a pair of face cards that I should drop one of them?

Again, I think you need to be more specific with the game you are talking about. In this case, I assume Video Poker.

The only time you drop a high (1:1) pair in Video Poker is if you are holding 4 to the Royal. (At least on JoB).

Since he posted it in the Poker (and not Video Poker) section, I think he was referring to intentionally revealing one of his cards to his opponent(s) as a strategic move. But I agree that a little more context would be helpful, such as an example situation.

I apologize for not being more specific. I was alluding to video poker, and having two Aces, Kings, Queens, or Jacks.

Lots of situations where a pair isn't the best hand. 3 to a royal vs pair in many games, 3 to a straight flush with no gaps is better than a pair in NSU. It just depends on what you're playing and what the other cards in the deal are.
