I saw a new game at the Galaxy Booth at the Global Gaming Expo called 3 Dice Baccarat. It plays like baccarat, except both sides use the roll of three dice to determine their score. The house edge mechanism is a 3 over 0 is a push for the winning side. I'm told the game will start a field trial soon at the Planet Hollywood, so I went ahead and analyzed (why doesn't my spell checker like that?) it.
Please see my new page on 3 Dice Baccarat. Galaxy also has a page on the game.
The question for the poll is would you play 3 Dice Baccarat?

Probably not. The fun element of bacc is the suspense of the 3rd card. Here it sounds like all 3 dice are rolled at once. Plus it looks like the house edge is higher than both player and banker bets in traditional bacc.
Maybe for a few mins to kill time if it was $5 game. But this would go by way too fast and not enough suspense to make it fun.
The game would be better if the dealer shook cups with 2 dice for each side and then a player betting on each side shook another cup for the 3rd die on each hand (like highest banker bet shakes that cup and highest player bet shakes that cup. If no one bet that side, dealer shakes that cup)

If anyone gives you 10,000 to 1 on anything, you take it. If John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I am going to be a very rich dude.

Wiz,
Typos on your 3 Dice Baccarat webpage:
1. "... if the dice where 4+5+6 = 15... ": change "where" to "were".
2. "3 Over 0 &mdahs;" fix the em dash.
Like TinMan, I would not play this game either.

It would seem a much more interesting game, I've yet to analyse it, if the player rolled two dice and elected whether they wished to roll again. If so the dealer would roll their dice (and could get a "natural"), otherwise play on. Obviously if you have 3 or less then you always elect to have the additional roll, but the banker might have a slight advantage seeing your decision/rerolled die.
The problem with rolling two dice is it's much easier to get totals around 7 (6-9) than the lower ones (0-5).

Rolling two dice and then 'drawing' a third would seem to throw a wrench in the triples side bets.
Am I correct to understand that there is no reason to always bet Banker, that one can play Player/Banker hunches without mathematical penalty?

May the cards fall in your favor.

^ I guess one might be annoyed to roll a double against a natural and not be allowed to roll again. Perhaps the payouts could include double and treble. (However a third roll allows for different side-bets, so swings/roundabouts!)

You’d need to get rid of the concept of a natural 8/9. Always commit to rolling 3 dice for both hands.

I'd definitely give it a shot. Vegas could use another dice game besides craps now that nobody has Sic Bo anymore.

The players do get to shake the cups, but with all three dice at once.
