I saw this during our recent stay at the Cosmopolitan, downstairs in their high limit room. I'm not interested much in side bets other than the tie, but here is how it works:
$5. minimum / maximum bet gets you:
$25. for any Royal 9
$50. for any suited Royal 9
$250. for Royal 9 versus Royal 9
$1500. for Suited Royal 9 versus Suited Royal 9
$5000. for Other Personal King-9 versus Identical King-9
And you hit the big Progressive Jackpot if the Personal King-9 you receive matches the Personal King-9 on the other side.
There are also progressive smaller jackpots for Banker personal K-9 or Player personal K-9.
A Personal King-9 means - matching the exact suits noted on your player position. Each player position has a different personal K-9 noted.
For example in this particular seat, the personal K-9 means a King of spades and a Nine of diamonds.
Over all, it's a bunch of mostly longshot wins for a $5. bet. I watched for a while and noticed people hitting the $25. win occasionally, and saw someone hit the $50. payoff once too, but I saw nothing better than that.
If you go to Cosmo and look now, no doubt that Progessive jackpot is higher than $50,342.90 now, but I also imagine that the odds of winning it are much much higher than 10000 to 1.
I understand that you must be playing the game in order to bet the Progressive Royal 9 - you must have either a Bank or Player wager in action, and the table minimum at this table is 100 - 200 typically from what I have seen. You can't just stand there and toss nickels on the special wager without wagering Baccarat hands.

I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

MDawg,
I saw this same sidebet at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles Louisiana when I was there a few weeks ago.

Cherokee and Murphy Harrahs both have these. They were very popular. I believe the progressive as over 100,000 but I could be wrong. Biggest issue is they were $100 minimums which was too rich for my blood. They did have a cheaper multi game baccarat going though.

So if I'm understanding correctly, if one person wins the top jackpot, everyone else playing the light wins $5,000? The same hand triggers both payouts?
Casinos are not your friends, they want your money. But so does Disneyland.
And there is no chance in hell that you will go to Disneyland and come back with more money than you went with.
