PICK 4 lottery

Hi. I live in IA and play the pick 3 and 4 games daily. a few days ago the pick four numbers drawn were exactly the same 2 days in a row for the midday drawing. Can you tell me what the odds are of this happening. It seems they would be quite high. Thanks

If the digits are 0-9, then it's 1 in 10,000

I realize it's 1 in 10,000 per drawing, but there are different odds for them coming up back to back. What are these odds?

If 8573 comes out today, the odds of it coming out tomorrow are still 1 in 10,000.

Not sure about your state, but in PA it is a 50% House Edge. Nice business plan if you can get it!

Ironically, the four digit here in Michigan tonight was 7685.

I just cannot believe that. If 7 red comes up on the roulette wheels 10 times in a row, that would be extremely, incredibly astronomically rare. The odds are 37 to 1 every time. So you're saying it's still only 37 to 1 each time. But then why doesnt 7 red come up 10 times in a row more often, if EVER? There are a different set of odds to figure this. Just like saying flipping a coin is 50 50 each time. But what are the odds of heads coming up 100 times in a row? astronomically rare. The same set of pick four numbers has never come up back to back in this state ever. And your talking a lot of draws. Pick 3 has, but the odds are much greater in that happening. Thanks

You're thinking in terms of specific numbers. But when it's any of them, it's different. The pick 4 back to back is 1 in 10,000. Saying that 8542 will be on back to back draws BEFORE the first draw then it's 1 in 100,000,000.

In your roulette example if 7 comes up on one spin, the probability that it comes out on the next spin is still 1 in 38(37 if single zero).

Might be rare, but it happens more often than 7 black.....(joke)

I don't know about 8573 coming up twice in a row, but I have seen say 8573 coming up one day, and 7538 coming up the very next day. :) And, in a bizarre turn, 735, 573, and 357 in the Pick 3 game have all come up just days apart. :)
