So this guy from Bovada called me yesterday to let me know there is a 40% deposit bonus in the form of a free bet.
He then asked me what I would use the free bet on. I said I'd probably pick the Blues over the Sharks in the series depending on the line. I said "What is the line for the series?" He said "I'm not allowed to look them up on my computer, I'd have to look at a different website"
Isn't that odd that a Bovada call center employee isn't allowed to have access to Bovada lines when making promotional calls. Suspicious?

I would say that it seems suspicious. Are you sure they are from Bovada? Have they called you before?

I don't think they want to be in a position of giving
betting advice, so they can't access the info. If they
made some remark to a player and he lost, they
don't want him blaming Bovada for bad advice, which
you just know they'd do.

I have never received an unsolicited call from Bovada/Bodog before.

I wouldn't consider it suspicious. You were probably talking to some low-level call center goober who was reading from a script. He probably doesn't know Blues/Sharks, from Reds/Dolphins.

Maybe they don't let their employees log into gambling websites on the clock? ;)

I would not be suprised if there was some kind of legal problem with them quoting lines over the phone.

I'd agree with this. In the book "Casino" it was stated that even giving the weather as it relates to the game in solicitation of a bet is illegal. The "free bet" might have passed muster because no money was being solicited.

There are other reasons too.
He might not be able to log in due to data protection.
He may have been given just your name and number, and he wouldnt be allowed to link that data with your username, address or balance for example. This makes internal audits far easier should something go 'missing' from your account.
Ive never worked in a call centre, but I imagine he doesnt even get to see your phone number, he mearly presses next number on the PC and the phone starts ringing whilst displaying "Calling Mr Smith" Re 40% reload bonus. and so on

I thought Bovada never engaged in any bonus stuff at all. It seems to me the call is not legit at all.Quote: FinsRuleSo this guy from Bovada called me yesterday to let me know there is a 40% deposit bonus in the form of a free bet.
