That chance is 1 in 302,575,350. The participating jurisdictions keep about 40% of what is wagered.

Welcome to the forum.

IF you do not buy a ticket your chances are 0.0000000
IF you do buy a ticket your chances are 0.0000001

The music, food and booze as well as general ambience at the qwik mart is not all that great, try a casino.

I think that chance is 0.000000003304962. There is a better chance you will die the day the lottery if drawn than win.

It's much more. For a 53-year-old male (like me), the probability of dying any given day is 1 in 51,400.

The probability of winning the MegaMillions is 1 in combin(70,5)*25 = 302,575,350.

So, the probability of winning MegaMillions is about the same as dying in any given span of 15 minutes.

How do you calculate the probability of dying at any given age?

It's right here in my actuarial calculator.

I'd bet you you're wrong, but you won't be around to pay up.

Actuarial Calculator

Enter your age:
XX

Enter any future age (optional):
109

Remaining years =
xx.xx
.

Expected age at death =
xx.xx
.

Probability of reaching future age =
0%

x=none of your business

I'm joking, it's just funny to see a 0% chance of living to a certain age, because it can be close to zero, but not actually zero.

I entered 120 as the future age, and the probability of reaching it is NaN%.

It means when you’re 119 and 360 days, buy a lottery ticket.

I think it's predicting I'll be peacefully murdered the day before my 109th birthday. They're not going to plug me in to recharge me until my battery life goes to 0%.

I think it’s more like your chance of dying in next 15 seconds. Call it 14.68 seconds.

Your chance of dying in next 15 minutes is 1 in 4.934,352.

I'm not going to lie, 208 million is a very nice profit on just $2. Okay more like $137 million after taxes, but still a very nice profit on just $2. :)

It is true that you have a small chance of winning in the lottery.
But even if your chance of winning is low, if your lucky enough you can probably win the lottery

cheers!

I think the oldest male in the data was 115 years old. It also rounds to the nearest 0.01%. At a certain point it rounds to 0.00% and then you start getting division by zero errors when there is nobody left alive. I would take anything over 100 with a grain of salt, as there aren't that many people that old in the data.
