Verifyably honest? Transparent. We shamelessly publish our algorithms!

Is this the epitome of honesty or hype?

How have Bitcoins been doing lately? (In volatility, not value.)

Sorry for the confusing link.... it should be working properly now.

My question relates to their claims of being pure of heart and so transparent with publishing their algorithms that their games are provably legitimate.

It would seem to me that IF those claims are true this might be the start of reliable online gambling but is this just hype?

Once there is legitimacy I would think it would persist be it for Bitcoins or real coins?

This all Signing the seed used is a brilliant idea. Let's hope their daily seed is not predictable.

Other than that: how do you prevent being short-paid ?

Since the bubble a month back or so, it's been holding around the 120$ point, with what appears to be slight positive pressure.

I don't know but in a world full of crooks going with someone who is open and honest seems like a good idea, provided its true and not just hype.

Hey folks,

I'm one of the owners of BitSaloon, and I'm glad to answer any questions you might have about the site. Transparency is really important to us, and we'd love your feedback on how we can improve.

We're not currently publicizing all of our code as we don't want anyone using it for a competing site, but we're more than happy to share in plain english how any of our algorithms work and how you can verify the results and see that we're honest.

Best,

- Justin

Welcome.

Do you accept only bitcoin deposits?

Is there anything about your "Transparency" that is unique to Bitcoins as opposed to some other currency?

Where are you located?

Transparency is the main word with Bitcoin, like "Freedom" is with America. So, given that it is a BTC casino, it's only good business to provide what your customers care about, i.e. transparency.

The operating principle of BTC is essentially a competition in cracking a finite set of codes, with the currency unit belonging to the first to get a valid hash, and credit for it being transferred openly and publicly, since there's no other way to do it.

Perhaps key parts of the algorithms (they aren't anything special, after all) could be publicized, along with a way to reveal seeding, though I'm not sure how exactly. But it should be doable. I don't know all the ins and outs of cryptography, but enough to know a variety of such arrangements are possible.

Yes, we currently only accept bitcoin deposits. With talks of the USA legalizing online gambling, we might expand to accept USD (and EUR since the work involved will be similar) in the future to get a jump in that market. We're based in Ireland, and while we're sticking pretty closely to their laws, dealing solely in bitcoins gives us more flexibility. Particularly, we don't have to obtain a gambling license yet since bitcoin isn't a fiat currency, although this is on our roadmap regardless.

The bitcoin blockchain offers unique insight into transactions, and we could prove that our customers have been depositing and withdrawing from their accounts. Obviously that could be a pretty big privacy issue for some people, so we're not going to do that without their permission.

Any online casino could be provably fair with the right algorithms - this isn't specific to bitcoin. As P90 said though, transparency is particularly important to bitcoin users, and we think it's just good business to be as open and honest as possible, so that's a big focus for us.

Is BitSaloon transparent enough to name the owners and the key employees running the operation? That would sure make me more comfortable knowing that I can research the individuals involved and make sure they all have a clean background.

Question specific to BitSaloon-- how do you keep track of account users? Most BC sites I've seen use a hash in the URL or a login; I see neither here. I have the habit of staying in incognito windows; would that cause a problem?

BitSaloon has two owners, myself (Justin Pincar), and Kevin Meehan.

We currently keep track of accounts using session cookies. When someone loses access to their account, we generate and send them a one-time-use link that restores their access. We're currently building out optional user account creation/login as well. Until we make the login accounts public, using our site in incognito windows wouldn't work well.
