How the heck we end up using crypto as currency eludes me. It would need whole nations to release control of the money systems of the world. But crypto is more than a fad. We need to transition from unstable beanie bears to something we can spend in a mall.
Not really. All it needs is acceptance. Think about how in a casino you can play with cheques and tip the waitress with them. Imagine thw whole place let you use them. In the restaurant, in the gift shop, and to pay for your room. Then imagine say a place like the Bahamas and Atlantis where you could use them in town. Does Disney still have the Disney Dollars that did that on the resort and in their stores?
To be practical it would have to be something smaller. Bitcoin may be the reserve but the human mind will not accept something in a small fraction of a BTC. So maybe something like XLM which will probably max at $5-10 even with claims it could make $50. Imagine a Big Mac being 1XLM in Canton, London, Tokyo, or Moscow! You have to ignore other regional cost differences of course. Throw in an easy payment system and you really have something. Countries like China would have a much harder time hiding behind an artificially weak currency.
It would make money printing harder as we are currently seeing what happens with that via BTC. Plus governments would have a harder time shutting out people, companies, and even countries from the financial system! No more trying to get the NRA locked out of banking, they would just keep things in XLM to pick a quick example.
Question is, could the average person accept all that freedom?

In 1990, impel put out a series of Marvel trading cards that sold well, but nothing like the follow-up series that Fleer put out a few years later. As recently as two years ago, you could find unopened boxes of Impel cards in the $5-$10 range. I bought a collection that included three boxes of them at auction for $50, with the cards being a toss in to what I wanted.
Last week, I was told they were getting hot so I put one on ebay, hoping to get $60-$75. To my shock, it sold for $785.
As a joke, I listed another for a Buy it now of $2500, and while entertaining offers of about half that, someone hit the BIN.
My last box is now being offered at $7500 and overnite I got two offers of over $5,000.
A comic book called X-Force 1 was a huge seller in the 1990s, during the last comic bubble, but in recent years has been a
$1-$3 book. It came in a sealed poly-bag and also had one of several Impel cards included. One of those cards- Deadpool, is literally on fire and copies of the book with that card are suddenly selling for $50 a pop.
Even the Series Four boxes have gone from $50 to the $350-$500 range in the last two weeks.
Someone told me this money is being driven by people cashing in their bitcoin profits, but I'm wondering if several states legalizing drugs may be a factor.

As far as Baseball collatable stuff, what's hot and what's not? is mostly Graded stuff? Just before the pandemic I brought my brother boxes of collectables to sell on eBay since he was new to selling and wanted something to do. WILLIE MAYS,SNIDER, FORD, ROBINSON, BENCH, JACKSON AND ROSE MULTI SIGNED BASEBALL LEGENDS 28" X 33" FRAMED BALLY'S POSTER (JSA LETTER) I meet and have pictures with a few of them along with singed centerpiece baseballs. The problem with that poster is while only a few hundred people attended that event, similar events were held in a number of places, and there are new members of the 500 home run club so your grouping is a bit obsolete.

My original plan was to get my business up and running, then sell the building and the business together. Covid changed that and when I got an offer for my building I went with it. The thin air in Bisbee has really started to bother me. I didn''t realize how bad it was until I spent a weekend at a much lower altitude and I saw the difference first hand.
I'd though about buying an RV and living on the road but a few months in one was enough to show me I won't care for it.

In the last week I've watched 3 old westerns where Bisbee was mentioned. Someone was going to Bisbee. Someone had left Bisbee 'cause of trouble. Don't remember the 3rd reference.

Is it just the upkeep? Seems you could afford a regular cleaning and maintenance crew whenever and wherever you want.

I'm a big guy. The shower and the whole bathroom are not built for big people. The showerhead is chest high, and you are hard-pressed to find a frozen pizza that fits your freezer.
Bisbee is okay, a great place to visit, and use as a base for a tour of the old west. An awful lot of history. Incredibly cheap real estate and a growing off-grid movement. I've been watching this couple build a house out of earthbags and the final product was amazing.
They literally paper-mached the walls this week and it looks like an adobe structure that cost ten times as much. The bags cost a buck or less and they used under 3,000. They spent $5,000 for solar power, and expect to spend another $5,000 as they build another outbuilding, then connect the two with a roofed breezeway. It took the two of them about six months, working part-time. I scoffed when they were telling me about it, but now I'm impressed.

See, here is the problem. I have to trust your authentication or might have to get it authenticated myself. Then there is display, the baseballs and framed poster have to be displayed together which limits the market because you need a big area to display it. And these are older legends, that limits my market. This is going to take a ton of space in the shop and it might be sitting in the shop for a year. Plus I have to leave myself some room for profit. I see about $500.........

according to the link the cost of this prefab house is $9,300
kind of interesting - the obvious criticism is it looks cheap but on the other hand it looks not bad
no, I'm not thinking about buying it for all those who are snickering - just curious
I don't know much about prefab homes - do you?

Arizona gets about six hours of sunlight in the winter, making solar power extremely possible and fairly cheap. I reserved a book on building these houses from my library, but it is very popular and I'm on the waiting list for it.
It was only this week that I learned Cochise County has some of the most liberal rules concerning building your own off grid homes in rural areas. You need to own four acres of rural land, and inform the county of where you are building sleeping structures. That's it. No building code, no impact studies.
I already framed and matted it myself, so there's no need for that.Quote: AZDuffmanSee, here is the problem. I have to trust your authentication or might have to get it authenticated myself. I have pictures proving I was there at the event with the the poster and some of the legend's along with some kind of certificate. I guess it's possible for someone to make copies and forged the signatures and then try to sell the fakes using the same prominence multiple times. I'm not sure how it's possible to avoid that on anything, unless once it's been authenticated there's some type of special mark and database that tracks all of that including cells are transferred and who how's the items. It seems to me that just about anything can be faked or forged(I can show you a couple examples on this very forum)

There are several and you need to keep checking in. Just a few bucks while you watch TV but I have probably made $100 or more because I held on.
Meanwhile BTC is up another 10% this week. The good thing now vs. 2017 is that we are seeing institutions jump in. Financial markets handling it. Can it get me to retirement by 2025?
