Hey guys,

I'm a newbie from Korea. Since a few months ago I went to Vegas for vacation I like slot game.

I just found an article which pointed out that men and women have different preferences for gambling game types. Men would like games that require skill like poker or blackjack, and women would like EGM type games such as slot game.

Is it true? Is this in line with everyone's actual situation?(Link removed by Mod)

I deal games for corporate parties and such. I can say that men will spend more time learning a game than women. Women are also way more likely to chit-chat and half ignore the game in front of them. (We are not for money so in the casino that will be different,) Women want to be up and running in the game during just a few minutes. Men are more willing to learn complex games for the sake of knowing the game.

Poker probably has the biggest male/female skew in the casino. I once had a woman tell two young players that "Poker is a manly game." A dealer I know is female and denied this. I asked her if there are ever more than 10% women on the poker room if you do not count the women that work there. She thought about it and then agreed with me. When I work the parties, women basically do not want to even learn poker, with well over half at the table just because the man they are with wants to play.

Slots were first an afterthought in the casinos, in the words of execs, "to give the wives something to do while their husbands played the tables." These days I would say the women I have known prefer slots more than men. Video Poker seems male dominated.

I like table games that rely heavily on chance, and not so much skill.

My wife likes slots and other machine-based games.

Video Poker seems male dominated.

I have nothing but my own observation. And I will admit it's not something I have ever really thought about untill you brought it up just now.

I have to strongly disagree that VP is male-dominated. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that more women play VP than men. I actully think it's close either way.

GOD DANM YOU AZ!!! Now I'm going to start paying attention to this useless information.

I remember one poster here who wad playing VP noticed a woman near him who was also playing VP but clearly did not know what she was doing. Rather than spend the time and effort teach her VP he just suggested she play at a nearby bank of slot machines that were some other game. She did well and gave him a thumbs up some time later.

So male game? Female game? It depends how long your bankroll holds out and that is something that depends on many factors.

Some women enjoy skewering poker opponents, particularly males. Poker dealers don't mind unless its wives and husband at the same table then they know things will get bad either at the table or at home that night.

It just might be that boys are taught poker while girls are taught gin rummy or something.

One CHP pilot had to learn 'intake, compression, power, exhaust' in her twenties; little boys all learn that at age eight. It depends on exposure and encouraging early experiences.

I posted before about that Australian coloring book for teaching poker to tiny tots
Wonder how that sells
