The March 30 show will be Anthony Curtis on the new LVA website. If you have any questions, comments, or criticism of the new website, mentioning it here stands a chance to turn into an on-the-air question.
I totally get the site should and will have ads, but ones like this are generally designed to "trick" older people in to thinking that's a real message from their computer. While this might be a legit ad, often times these ads are completely bogus which gets the user to actually install malware on their machine, then holding their computer hostage the people/company responsible random back the persons computer. Even in a better case scenario these literally do relatively nothing but still charge people $20 or $40 for it. I would urge anyone from ever clicking an ad like this one.
Quote: RomesNo worries here, and thanks for the update. I'm definitely a fan of Anthony Curtis. When I was younger I think watching his analysis on breaking vegas or the other discovery shows is what led me to check things out online. He seemed like a real sharp individual who was able to use real math to explain things (instead of hokey stories / feelings / etc). I saw him meeting with someone downtown at The Grand bar last year and contemplated saying hello, but he doesn't know me and I didn't want to interrupt his meeting/etc.
On our last trip there, he walked through the lobby area while we were picking up our coupon books. So we got to BS with him for a short time. In all the years knowing of him, I had no idea he was from Dearborn here. If he reads this, maybe he'll remember that brief meeting. :-)

I got a bunch of unsecured website warnings just now when i went to the site and tried to click a few of the links on the bottom of the landing page... Im using firefox, but maybe something to have their web developer address.....
A comic grading company board I participate in did the same thing recently and it was chaotic for a week or two. Many people still hate the update.

The comment at the end regarding turning Double Up on in video poker tournaments is fascinating. I have never seen that and I am not even sure that it is supported in most IGT tournament chips. I will try to go through a few different chip sets this week and if it is available I will recommend it to a few places to try.
Quote: DRichJust listened to the second Buddy Frank interview. It's enjoyable listening to the guys that have been running slots forever and that have stayed up to date with the new games and technology.

First of all, the forum on gamblingwithanedge.com allows you to make comments directly about individual podcasts. Posting it here is fine, but since this thread is about something else, it doesn't get the follow-up comments.
Speaking of follow up, the double up feature is NOT for video poker tournaments --- insofar as I know. It's for regular casino play.

We taped the Anthony Curtis show today. I asked about this, but not in a way that Anthony understood what I was talking about. After the show, I showed it to him and he said he did know about it.
It's a legitimate ad --- okayed by both Microsoft and Google. It is not Malware. But it is "click-bait." Anthony said he asked for this particular ad to be removed as it s potentially worrisome to many of us.
I suspect if you click yes, you'll get some stuff immediately downloaded to your computer that will keep popping up. No fun.

I wish Richards Backgammon story could have stayed in =). I thought that was an awesome story, but alas perhaps he didn't want it shared.
We've already taped it but currently have a number of shows backlogged.
This Thursday we'll post an interview with "Kelly," the Chinese woman who was Phil Ivey's partner in the baccarat games. Her English leaves a bit to be desired, but we had Laurie Chang (wife of John Chang) there as an interpreter. I found it fascinating.
Switching games, we're interviewing this week Jim McManus, author of "Positively Fifth Street," and "Cowboys Full: The History of Poker." He's entertaining and informative.
im looking forward to the show with kelly. i think a lot of us are very curious about her background and how she turned from an indebted gambler into a hustling AP
You're missing out. GWAE is a phenomenal source of great information valuable to any AP, as well as a bunch of fun/great stories about gambling (which let's be honest we all enjoy).Quote: IbeatyouracesOddly, I've never listened to any episodes yet.
Heck, just go start with Bob N. GWAE appearances and I guarantee you'll learn something.
I'm really interested to see the interview with "Kelly" this Thursday. To hear her version of what I'll crudely call "Team Ivey's" plan for the casinos.

I agree that it's a great source of info. In just lazy and usually don't have the quiet time for it. I plan on it though at some point.
We're AP's... We drive to casinos all the time =P. That's when I love listening is on a road trip to a casino.Quote: IbeatyouracesI agree that it's a great source of info. In just lazy and usually don't have the quiet time for it. I plan on it though at some point.

I'm retired from AP. :-)
Not by the amount of VP action you put in! lol =)Quote: IbeatyouracesI'm retired from AP. :-)

Trust me, even with the cash back, comps to free play and bounce back, it's barely over 100%. And since that last royal, I've been getting destroyed!!!
Quote: houyiSo...is Cheung Yin Sun trying to stay out of the limelight now, or is "Kelly" just the English name she uses to make it easier on English speakers? Because I think the cat's out of the bag on the former.
Same woman.

Sorry, maybe my post was confusing. I knew it was her. My question was actually: is "Kelly" just her English name, or did she request a pseudonym for anonymity's sake? Because the latter seems futile at this point.

Her real name is known. Cheng Yin Sun

She's been known as Kelly for along time.
