for the Right side, i've been using the general rule of thumb of 10x what you plan on putting on the table.
ie: 3 point Betty on 5x odds table
passline $10, $50 odds
Come: ($10, $50 odds) x 2
Total: $180

thus bankroll = $1800.

whats the rule of thumb for a Darkside bankroll?

Higher I would imagine since you would be laying odds at a rate of six times the flat bet.
On the Dark Side you would lay enough to WIN the odds multiplier, so at a 5x table you lay enough to win 50 on a ten dollar table.

Strangely enough I think if your a don't player and only laying against the point $1000 would suffice. After all if you are making the same bet on every number you would win. Now the way I'd play it is lay against the 4 then take it across until you get to the 10.

As mentioned by flea, you're incorrect on the odds. At a 3,4,5x table 6x would be allowed thus a total of $210. The math is more complicated for a true 5x table at 6x,7.5x, and 10x. I think using 8x would be a good and safe average estimate. Therefore $270 total average bet.

I only meander to the darkside when I want to lower my variance (I play $5 on the don't pass, no odds)... but just wanted to make sure your numbers were a bit more on-par.

Laying the 4/10 is the only ones w/a decent house edge at 1.7%.
laying the 5/9 is 2%, and 6/8 is 2.3%.

there's no Dark equivalent of Place bets in the US.

The way people get killed playing the dark side is varying there bets! I've seen people build $2000 and lose it because they started changing there bets. They started laying more on 4 & 10s and all of a sudden their bankroll gets depleted.

Yeah the reason I rarely touch the darkside is because I chase my losses. It's what I do, it's how I have fun, it's unavoidable. Doing that on the don'ts gets me out of my comfort zone way too fast.
