Have concocted this new place betting scheme, and doing better than expected with it. Since place betting, might as well bet the best numbers and ride it out:
**Simply betting the 6 and 8 at $12 each. First hit collect. Second hit press both at the same time to $24 each. Then same bet for remainder of hand.**
Max exposure per shooter is $24 if no hits, if get only one hit lose $10, so do not get hurt too bad in the bad spurts. On the 6 and 8 good shooter clumps have won $100-$200 range per shooter. Net wins have been $300 range in the 2 day sessions completed thusfar.
Playing with a 20 shooter bankroll per day session, $500, which has been plenty thusfar.

If you get 2 hits, use the winnings plus $10 to press them to $24, so you're down $20. If you get that third hit, then you're up $8.Quote: dwmMax exposure per shooter is $24 if no hits, if get only one hit lose $10, ....
I'll stick to my own plan:
I place $12 each. I press them both to $18 after the first hit, then press to $24 after the second hit. If I get one hit, I'm down $22. If I get two hits, I'm down $1. If I get the third hit, I'm up $27.
Your way is only better if the shooter hits it only once. Yeah, that happens, but we're here to gamble, right?

dwm. When one reads a few of your posts, one gets the feeling that after a losing session or two, you are back to your drawing board, maybe WinCraps, and you start over and it is not because you are in a happy mood.Quote: dwmHave concocted this new place betting scheme, and doing better than expected with it. One week it is pass with odds, then place sister bets, then back to pass with a progression per roll on the odds.
Almost worse than watching a tennis match with one player trying to play both sides of the court.
Try combining your methods and just have fun with it if you have the bankroll to lose.
Seems like you do not have fun when your end result is a loss.
No matter what you do, the losing sessions will always be there.
Hopefully you can have a 155 roll hand, make 2.8 million dollars on that hand and retire from craps, or just get invited to play in Craps tournaments only.
Pass/odds, 6&8 place
Why not add the Buy 4 and 10 for $25 or $50 IF you can only pay the vig on a win. Your HA on the $25 and $50 bets would be better than the 6&8 place at 1/75 instead of 1/66 if you are stuck on the lowest HA.
Or you can even write a book on all your methods, show what works and when, what does not work and when and sell it.
Then some will bow to you as a god and some will bow to you as a devil.
Unless you want to please everyone all the time.

I use a scheme very close to this, trust me you won't win in the end.
Its - Possessive; It's - "It is" / "It has"; There - Location; Their - Possessive; They're - "They are"

C'mon, cut the OP some slack.
Any craps player with a vestige of a brain left knows the house will win in the long run; it's inevitable, like death and taxes, and I have to think he must have realized this by now.
Not that knowing we are all doomed will stop us from tap dancing into the casinos.
I also prefer placing 6 and 8 instead of line betting, and have a variety of plays I employ, none of which is "better" than the other, but any of which can make me money, if Dame Fortuna smiles upon me.
I like looking at how others approach place betting, keep 'em coming.

I bet all horn bets, all the time. I alternate horn high 2 and 12, and if the shooter's a female, 11, for a green chip. My bankroll's $500. I bet until I run out of money or I triple it. If the bet hits, then I double the bet and I add a green every time it wins.
A pair of twos and I'm up $285 + $570, all for $25. Wow.
With a 6:1 shot of hitting a horn number, I think it's a great system. And at a per roll HA of 12.78%, it's a great bet.
My point is that any betting scheme can beat short term variance. You likelihood of losing however goes down if you play the bets with the lowest EV and the greatest variance.

I agree. At least he is making low house edge bets. Unlike the field, or god forbid any horn bets.

The good thing about this craps game is that so many different betting schemes are possible. Most refuse to change their betting schemes even on the down stroke and just continue to bet the same way multiple sessions year after year until the bitter end. Do NOT be afraid to try a different betting scheme, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Personally, the most fun way to play is pass-odds and across betting with pressing, but very difficult. The smartest way is probably pass with big odds, but sometimes few points are made and not much action which can be boring. There are a lot of possibilities in between.
I am now playing a new pass-odds with across betting scheme with conservative pressing that did well on a 4 nighter in Biloxi. Will continue to play it and give details IF it continues to perform well.

I've played every decent bet in craps with some sort of progression betting scheme. I really like to stick to the "up a unit" scheme. Basically, Every time one of my bets hits, I go up $6. It makes for a nice payout for those long rolls. And if at anytime, I look at my chips and the bets I have out there and think "I'm happy with this"...then I take my bets down, tip the dealers, and cash out.
I often get laughed at when I take my bets down and the next roll hits. People often say "should have left them up"...and I usually retort with the fact that I should have been betting the table max the last 20 rolls as well, but it didn't happen that way...

Dont Pass $5, with $30 behind...outside points only. To this, toss in $6 6&8.
If the 6 or 8 hits on roll 1 or 2, that bet comes down, including both. Wait out the 7.
If 6 or 8 on roll 3+ both bets are down on that hit. Wait for the 7.
The Dark Side has its advantages, too.

I enjoy the Place 6&8 bets and have had fun with many different betting schemes with those numbers. My current system seems fun and a nice mix of aggressive/conservative, from my point of view. Place 'em for 12 each, first hit- press both 6, 2nd hit- press both 6. At this point I have invested for 11$ . 3rd hit- bring down the number that hit, 24+28=52 -11= 41$ in profits. Split the remaining bet into 12 on each number and go from there.
Continue with the same strategy, keep the numbers separate, press both every other hit, whatever float my boat. I have had fun with all of these, as everyone has with their own system.
To add to the fun I occasionally will make a 12$ field bet on the first come out roll for a new shooter, and try to " catch a free unit". Having a 4,9, or 10 pop up is best to me, since I can immediately go up on the 6,8. A 3 or 11 is odd, since I then need to decide to take a chance and go at it again, or just wait for a point. 2 and 12 are great as I simply wait for a point and start with the double win. Of courses a call of no field just sucks, but only making the bet 1 of 3 or 4 shoots, doesn't really eat into my session stake.

As for pressing, I like this angle: Press every other hit, until all bets get to double the starting bet. Example, $32 across, 6 hits so press the six to look like $12, 8 hits so collect $7, 10 hits so press to $10, 4 hits collect $9, etc., just press one then collect one until all bets get to $10,12. If a pressed bet hits and it is time to press, then just collect and press the next $5,6 bet that hits.
Can make some good $100 shooter wins with just getting across bets up to $10,12. Pressing every other hit and stopping at double the starting bet is better for the bankroll most hands, compared to continous pressing.
