After trying many different betting schemes over several years, have concluded the only decent chance of overall winning is the pass-odds only, with concentrating on the odds portion. Place betting is a loser, any multiple betting scheme is just too difficult to win over many sessions. Make one good bet concentrating on the odds bet, which is much easier to win per session.
Have been winning the latest several sessions easily with MINIMUM downdrafts: $5 Pass-$20 odds to start the new point sequence. Then AFTER the point is established then increase the odds bet $10 for every inside number rolled. Stop at your max odds bet which is based on your bankroll of 10x max $ exposure per shooter. Since I am now stopping at $60 odds with $5 pass base, my session bankroll is $700, 10x my max exposure per shooter. Then start anew on the next point sequence. EASY, conservative, with still decent $200 wins.
If getting tired of place betting and losing as I was, give this a trial and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Pretty much my feeling; especially if you plan to have a long session. Short sessions have *some* chance. Your results may [and will] vary.

Passline then two come bets (each with odds asap) Place the Six and Eight but take them down after 3 rolls. That Seven is inevitable... so if you continue after that... go to the dark side even if the dealers are confused and bemused.

Too many bets, Fleastiff, been there and done that. No matter when or if you take your 6and 8s down, the PSOs clumps which are quite common kill that scheme. Also, the ugly is never your friend with come betting especially with odds, come bettors are a dying breed. Much easier to recover with losing just one good bet, the pass-odds.
Many times I am about the only winner at the table, just betting the pass-odds with escalating odds per point sequence as inside numbers are rolled after the point is established. Now I will not win as much on the hot streaks as place bettors, but overall my scheme does very well most(not all) sessions.

The ability to solely make PassLine wagers or else make PassLine wagers and back them up with odds, is much admired. With a whole layout there and the stick man's patter reminding everyone of the existence of these exotic bets one wonders how the players experience the self control to stop themselves from joining in with the excited masses.

Some of them add to the excitement and action by Come bets which have the identical edge as the Pass. Personally, I go for the Place 6 / 8 which is only marginally worse.

After a bad losing session with pass-odds only on New Years eve, changed it up for a good win last night.
Starting a gradual inside place betting along with the pass-odds scheme. Start the new shooter with pass-odds and if the point is 6 or 8 then place the sister. If the point is an outside number, then no furthur bets for now, then place as rolled the 5,9 individually, and if the 6 or 8 is rolled place both at once. $15, $18 place bets and triple odds on the point with $700 session bankroll. Was in a +$500 to -$200 range in a 6 hr session yesterday, not pressing.

Allow me to whine for a bit about two recent losing sessions:
(1) At Bill's, bought in for $600 and played the don't pass ($5) with max lay ($30) while laying three additional don't come points for the same. THE VERY FIRST SHOOTER held the dice for about 25 minutes. He got me down to the felt and the next shooter busted me out. Okay...
(2) At Margaritaville, bought in for $300, played the pass line ($5) with max odds (3x4x5x), and three additional come points. NOT ONE POINT was made. Bankroll didn't even make it past four shooters.
This game can be too brutal at times. This is what happens when there are no good video poker machines and I still want to play something ...

I know how you feel. Felt the same way at the Orleans and Gold Coast. Always on the wrong side. Not sure why our luck never returns back to that one amazing streak we use to ride.

I do find it kind of eerie how casinos seem to be able to consistently knock off the line players in craps. I guess it is just selective memory at work, but I swear. Funny too how the casinos seem to fear giving free odds, while my perception is that they should be fearless.
