Would there be any downfall, besides the house edge, to playing the following strategy:
Pass line w/max odds
Then alternate continual don't come w/max odds with come bets w/max odds.
Played this a few times on WoV free games and got killed. I didn't see why I was losing so bad as these are obviously the best bets on the table.

They are the best bets on the table. However, you can still lose, and lose badly. In the long run, though, you won't lose as much as other methods.

I agree, house still has a vig no matter what you do.
Playing 5x the pass line for Come bets (-0.325%), and 6x Don't Pass (aka wrong-way 3-4-5) on the Don't Comes (-0.275%) is about as far as its worth IMHO. That will keep you at -0.3% with 6x and 7x base bets respectively.

Have been winning lately with this simple pass-odds only scheme.
Start at $5 pass and $25 odds. Then do a negative progression on the odds bet up one unit on a loss, stopping at $50. On any odds win, return to the base $25 odds. If lose the $50 odds bet, then stop play and wait for a shooter making a point, and start anew. Have played it several ways, and stopping at twice the starting odds bet seems to work best. $600 day session bankroll. Also, the minimum $25 odds bet allows for some good wins on the multiple point shooters.
Concentrate on the odds bet is the best bet in craps. Any questions, let me know.
