Once you make a pass line bet and the number is established are you allowed to add to the pass line bet so you can also add more odds. If you are on a table that gives you 5x odds, you start with a $5 pass line bet with 5x odds bet of $25. You able to add another $5 to the pass line and odds bet after the point has been established?

It depends. It is prohibited at my casino. It's also forbidden to make a pass line bet after the point has been established, which has never made any sense to me, since it's in the casino's favor and picking up one's don't bet is still allowed. (Not to mention it creates more work for the dealers, as it's one extra thing to police on the game, but that's another story...)
The state in which my casino is located is somewhat notorious for having odd and draconian gaming laws, so consider this an exception in general.

In general, the casino will allow you to make any and all moves that are mathematically working against you.
7-out, line away, pay the don't.

places that prohibit it I think are just uncomfortable with messing with line bets - maybe
they have to watch that no one does that darkside

Yes, in most cases it's allowed.
But why not just do a Place bet?

I always thought that capping a passline bet was unlawful, without regard to the inability to win on 7 or 11.

i think Nevada rules are you can increase the pass line bet but
once increased it can not be decreased
maybe not fun for some casinos
leave it alone i say
some bubble craps the bet can not be increased in Las Vegas after point established
why increase the pass line bet to make a larger odds bet?
because it is fun? (or more fun?)

or just place $31 on the don't pass after the point is established and maybe the crew does not notice itQuote: odiousgambitthey have to watch that no one does that darkside
i see that move all the time
and
all races do it (my observation counts)
white, black, yellow, red, green, blue and so one

The exception may be on a table that offers 10x odds or more. I believe that if the odds offered are greater than 5x(can't remember the exact break even point), a put bet(with full odds) pays better than a place bet.

good point I agreeQuote: wilbsmittI believe that if the odds offered are greater than 5x(can't remember the exact break even point), a put bet(with full odds) pays better than a place bet.
maybe an example
$5 with $55 odds on 8 pays 5+66=71 on a win (main street station)
$60 place 8 pays 70 on a win
but the place 8 can be taken down at any point
maybe not always with 5/55 (the 5 part)
it might pay better, maybe
but still has restrictions that could make it a worse bet, speaking that is
