Someone else created a new thread based on a cliche. So my response is to create a thread about my license plate after consulting with the rules, I felt like my ratio was such that I should be allowed.

Actually model S-type? Back in the day the model E was widely referred to as "E-type" Jag but my memory that was just parlance but may have that wrong.

I am surprised that HARDWAY was available as a plate tag. I would have figured that was snatched up years ago.

I was a little bit surprised too.
Las Vegas doesn't have that many locals, really.
I have seen these plates:
"JACKPOT"
"TOWER" -- my other plate is "AHIGH" and I parked next to tower and took a photo -- "AHIGH" "TOWER" basically completes my last name. LOL. "A HIGHTOWER"
I still have the "AHIGH" Jaguar as well.

Nevada, like most states, has a site that will tell you if a certain vanity plate is available. WIZARD is not available but WIZODDS is. Have some fun with it.

If you go to the various California Indian casinos you will see a lot of vanity plates that refer to gambling. Just walk thru the parking garages.
There are several variations of royal flushes (California has a + and heart symbol available), and you see the royal cards in various orders, and there are variations of 7s and blackjacks, and various poker hands.
You wonder if those "plates" represent actual wins or just dreams?

They want an explanation of what it actually means in order for it to be approved. I think "WIZZING" would not be approved because a google search has no other possible meaning besides the meaning of "taking a whiz." But if you had evidence of "WIZZING" as it pertained to you and why you wanted it, like some sort of organization that used the term in a positive way that benefitted the community, like maybe whiz kids performing trivia competitions, you might still be able to get it.

I don't have a custom license plate, but I want one - the trouble is, I'm not sure what to put. I'm pretty sure that, if I simply used my nickname, it would be rejected (my nickname is Gunner, as given by fellow law students - yeah, I'm that guy.)

There have been lawsuits over vanity plates. In California, the DMV was sued for rejecting 'HIV POS' and 'HIV POZ'. I believe both plaintiffs prevailed.

My favorite is one I saw on a Mercedes sl550. Very simple and to the point. "WAS HIS"
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

You could probably make some money. If you knew early on some of the texting/online shortcuts were going to take off. Buy the plate , and sell it later.

I think reserving stuff like this ruins the spirit of the whole system. I was pretty happy when both AHIGH and HARDWAY were available. I would have never bought (just out of principle) these from another party. I'm sure it's a pain in the ass to buy stuff from squatters too.

Actually- I knew mike was a license plate collector and he mentioned it recently when talking about coins - 2f!!!! So when I was in Florida today I ate somewhere that they had license plates everywhere - I searched license plates in the search and this thread came up with others- I thought this was the correct thread sooooo put that in your pipe and smoke it

I have a weird habit of looking at license plates as I sit in traffic, and looking at cars, and looking at the drivers.....
OK, I said it was weird to begin with.
I've seen quite a few really imaginative ones, and pointed them out to passengers in my car.
Can't think of a good example at the moment.

I bought a car off some girl who thought she was cute. The plates said "Prfct10". She didn't want them so I kept em on for a short while til I got mineS. All the poor douches that would pull up and check me out would get so disappointed. A friend suggested that I put a bumper sticker next to it that just said "inches". We had a good laugh about that cause it's not true :(
