if you put a chip on "any 7" or "any craps" what are the rules for this, how do you win or lose that bet?
thanks
Any Craps pays 7:1 if the next roll is 2, 3, or 12. Anything else it loses.
These are 2 of the worst bets you can make in a casino.
Check out https://wizardofodds.com/games/craps/ for the rules on just about any bet.
Most of them are worse than double-zero roulette.
when i play ill stick to pass line and come
but if craps pays 7 to 1 you can flat bet on it and lose 6 times and win the 7th time and still be a winner?
The stick man will put the chips there since the center bets are his responsibility. As he does so he will be secretly laughing at you, particularly for that Any Seven bet since it has a 16.7 per cent house edge. By the way, since you try not to utter the word "seven" at a craps table even to the waitress when you are ordering a drink, that bet is referred to a "Big Red" and thats why the numeral 7 on that square will be in red paint.Quote: richbailey86if you put a chip on "any 7" or "any craps" ...

Yes, but those numbers only hit 4 out of every 36 times, which is 1 out of 9.
Quote: GWAERich as a new craps player please take every ones advice and ignore all of the middle bets. Sometimes it is hard to because the stickman keeps asking for bets and there are people throwing money in there like crazy. The only bet that I play in the middle is hard 6 and 8 for $1 each. If they win I parlay the winnings and hope for a 2nd win. It is still a bad bet but I am ok with it.
Like anything else, only bet what you can afford, and measure the cost in edge per roll (percent) multiplied by bet amount per roll.
Odds and lay odds on your line bets 0.00% per roll
Pass line is 0.42% per roll
6/8 are 0.46% per roll
5/9 are 1.11% per roll
$5 4/10 are 1.66% per roll (down to 0.33% per roll if you get the buy for a $25 chip with vig on the win - everything in between too)
Hardways and field are 2.78% per roll
Easy hops are 11.11% per roll
hard hopes are 13.89% per roll
any seven is 16.66% per roll
This is all assuming 31-for-1 and 16-for-1 and TRIPLE the 12 on the field in Vegas which is pretty easy to find.
If you bet a $1 hard eight, it's going to cost you $0.0278 per roll compared to $5 on the pass line that costs $0.02 per roll. Not a big difference in cost, just a difference in the percentage .. assuming you bet less on the hardways.
If you calculate your raw costs you might find you enjoy a $2 hard six as much as a $15 pass line with no odds. The $2 hard six is cheaper than the $15 pass line.
If you parlay your hard eight, you will only have $10 on the hard eight for a fraction of the rolls, which also reduces your average cost (betting for fewer total rolls).
You can of course bet $0 on the hard eight until the hard eight rolls and then bet $10 to save money in the long run compared to the parlay if you ALWAYS parlay.
Mind your costs and know that you're paying to play, and you'll be fine.

A kid that plays at a local casino loves to bet things like Ace/Deuce and Aces. Last night he started throwing $5 on Aces and ended up hitting it 4 times. Unfortunately for him he wasn't content to walk away up about $450 and instead finished the session down $20.
Me, on the other hand, stuck to my basic pass line and 6/8 place bets and finished up $30 after being down about $200 at one point.
He had a lot more excitement than I did hitting Aces for $150 but I ended up with the better result and that's all that matters to me.

I saw something similar last week. Younger guy is playing but only betting when he is shooting. Randomly during someone elses throw he tosses $10 on 12. Of course the 12 rolls for $300. He presses to $20 and it hits again. Instead of just walking away with $900 he continues to play but now he is betting 12 and 2. He did hit them a few more times. He left with $200 but he bought in with $200.
Quote: FleaStiffGamblers tend to enjoy gambling, so walking away particularly after a win is hard to do.
I must not be a gambler. I LOVE to walk away with a win. I'm happy even with a small win.
Quote: PBguyI must not be a gambler. I LOVE to walk away with a win. I'm happy even with a small win.
When people ask why I'm happy with small wins, I usually say "I have strict win limits."
It pains me to see someone shoot for 20 minutes, everyone's betting on the hard ways and other hop bets, continuously lose, and either have no action on come/place bets....or don't press their bets at all.
Of course, every bet you make and every time you press, you're just increasing your expected loss. But I don't play to grind out a bunch of $12 6&8's. Go 44 inside (or 32 or 34 if point is 5-9). Power press 5 & 9 to 25 then 60 then 100. 6 & 8 go to 24, 48, 60, 90, 150...etc. It only takes one decent roll to win big.
I'm waiting.Quote: RSIt only takes one decent roll to win big.

People who like to use systems (of any kind) usually would have a better chance of winning making a single bet.
IE: it only takes one roll to win big.
Quote: richbailey86I will be playing bubble craps soon at resorts world ny. Should I just stick to pass line with odds?
I'll give you the same advice I gave myself:
If you want more action, place come bets with odds.
For reference, the way I play bubble craps, witha $2 or $3 line bet, is as follows:
Pass line with single or double odds (the machines I played don't allow more than double odds)
Place 6 & 8 for $3 to $6 each
Up to two active come bets with single or double odds.
Naturally if 6 or 8 are the point or the come bet, I take down the palce bet. Odds bets always pay better.
And keep in mind it's still anegative expectation game. As someone said, all it takes to win is one decent roll. Alas, you can't know when that will happen or how long it will last, or even whether there will be even one decent roll.
Why? I thought you wanted to play smart and MAKE money? Unless they are sending you more back in comps/mailers then the -EV you will have on the game then this is not smart. Entertainment? You indicated you have a small amount of money to work with, so entertainment should be last on your list when it comes to gambling. You should Save that money, learn to play smart and use it on smart plays.Quote: richbailey86I will be playing bubble craps soon at resorts world ny. Should I just stick to pass line with odds?

Perhaps you shouldn't play.

Maybe I interpreted your post wrong, but having a gambling urge and needing a fix seems to be a bad thing.

The Organic machines at RW are $15 min.
They have Shufflemaster Electronic Craps on the second floor to the far right.
Those machines are $5 min.

I hope those shufflemaster machines are truly random
So does shufflemaster; so does the casino. In such a case, I would be rather confident that they are.Quote: richbailey86I hope those shufflemaster machines are truly random

I've heard the first roll of the dice on a crap table

The Banker bet in Baccarat is the best bet in the casino.
Excluding ties, it wins 50.7% of the time.
Quote: ontariodealerwatch for a player who is on the pass line or don't pass line and not 'playing the odds'...........ask him if you can.
I recommend that you never do this. This is about the only thing that I can think of that would be less classy than never tipping anyone at the casino. Not tipping saves you more money in general unless you're gambling high enough stakes.
If you are going to do it, though, I recommend only doing it at a $100 table for maximum effect, because you're going to learn your lesson more quickly that way. I would actually love to see what the response is to this question, "may I take your odds bet" at a $100 table.
