As a right side player, I often ponder new ways to play, ways which incorporate my chosen method: place betting.
Typically I stick to six and eight, with the occasional spread to outside numbers.
But next time out, I will try betting "$44 across:" $5 each on the four outside numbers, and $12 each on six and eight; or maybe "$100 across:" $10 on the outside numbers, $30 on both six and eight.
My plan is to use any profit from a hit on an outside number to press the adjoining six and/or eight; if six or eight hits: "same bet."

"What, me worry?"

How has the 6/8 worked out for you over time? Not over time per session, rather over the time you've been playing Craps. Empirically my guess is you have found it satisfying enough to make it your main method. Of course I'm presuming you're not a glutton for punishment who enjoys losing money. :)
As stated, your plan puts profits in your pocket only when the 6/8 hit. The 4,5,9 and 10 could each show once and you'd have pressed your 6/8 twice...original bet is still on the table plus the winnings. After an outside number hit are you planning to leave it up and on? Are you going to continue to press the 6 and 8 until one hits?
I get trying to win the progression money for the 6/8 with outside hits. Sounds fun anyway. Risking $100 v $44 seems like a significant difference to me, but I'm not you nor is it my money. The return on your 4 and 10 presses the $12 6/8 75%. The return on the $10 4 and 10 presses the $30 6/8 60%. There's more bang for the buck...relatively speaking, with the smaller bet method.
Either way, it will be lots of fun when the box numbers are hitting!

I would ignore the 5 + 9 because of the high house edge.
I would just Buy the 4/10 ($10 each) and place the 6/8 ($12 each).
do NOT press anything till you win back your original outlay ($44).
then press using your plan.
edit:
meant $12each on 6+8
