So here's the scenario, a question that is just as much as about money management as it is with "going for the big win" (anyone catch that annoying phrase from the electronic craps game?).

Let's say your bankroll is a meager $100 playing a $10 min table, and you win up to $100-150 now making your total bankroll $200-250. You pat yourself on the back, and decide to call it a night.

However, you want to make 1 more big bet based on a percentage of your profit before you walk away from the table. What bet would you make and how much? See the poll for bet types. I decided to not make the poll more complicated with bet %'s. How much would you wager? Would you want to psychologically walk away with a 100% return if you were up $100 and gamble the excess.

If I had to guess, I have a feeling this forum would sway somewhere towards choice 8 (for you dark horses :-D ), 7, 4, or 2 and close to that order.

Hop the hard 10 for all of it!

Once I was playing craps, and there was this guy who was not really betting that big. Quarters, mostly. All of a sudden he tosses out a black chip and says "hop the hard 10". The dealers were pretty surprised. They were even more surprised when it hit.

welcome back Mr. Whooper! first post since May.

'one last bet' as a big bet is not too much me, but if I succumb it usually is a larger line bet and max the odds.

I voted for both Walk Away and Field Bet.

Truthfully, I probably should have only voted to Walk Away. I mean, seriously? You've achieved the goal. You've beaten them at their game. Why give them a chance to get it back? Make that bet and lose, and you'll be kicking yourself all the way home. Make that bet and win, and you'll be wondering what would have happened if you let it ride. Either way, it's a bad move.

Because all your options were craps bets, if I were to make that one big bet, I'd want it to be one roll and done. That said, I'd go for the one most likely to hit, with the lowest edge. Therefore, Field.

DJ is right on the mark with how I was thinking too.
If I am ready to leave, and I decide to make one more big bet with some amount of what I deem as excess, I don't want to wait around for a PL/DP bet to resolve.
I would probably do a field bet, and hope I am on a table with 3x on the 12.

Question: When you are facing this scenario, that is ONE bet for a WIN or a LOSS on your way out the door, Does the HE of the bet really matter ?
Since the outcome is either 100% WIN, or 100% LOSS, Does it really matter if the HE of the bet is 1% or 5% ?

According the Wizard's tagline, yes.

However, I would bet a hard 6 or 8, if I could do it without a line bet. I would also consider hopping all the hardways for a buck each... "One time!"

To be honest, if I were going to do it (very unlikely BTW), I'd take 90% of what I'm willing to risk and put it on Red (or Black) and 10% on the 0/00 split. And I hardly ever play Roulette.

But the poll suggested only craps bets...

I'd take a walk, but that's just because I like winning in multiples of $50 or $100.

Let's say the Table was a $10/Min, though. I have $140 and bet $10 and get dealt a Natural, so now I am at +$155, probably just a $5 slot spin...I would say.

When I color out, I usually take whatever excess of the even number my win goal for that session is, and put it on some bet for the dealers. If the point is established, bet hard way on the point.

On a no crap table, I'll usually place the 2 or 12 for the crew.

I tip so generously during my play that I have no compulsion, or reason, to leave anything more when I color up. The last session when I had my big roll, I think the dealers won 5, $5 PL bets that had anywhere from $20 to $50 in odds behind them (I would add $5 or $10 to the odds each time I rolled a box number, where I was getting paid $150 or more). So the longer the point took to make, the better the dealer's odds.

The only problem (well other than over tipping) with doing it this way, is when the new crew comes on, they don't know you were responsible for 300-400 being in the toke box, and they get pissy when you don't leave odd chips on color up.......

I normally play at the same place most of the time, so the crew members know me. They usually tell each other "Beergut is taking care of us" as they rotate out.

Dude!! That's what they call ME!!!

To answer the question, I'd place half on the boxcars.
Someday, joor goin' to see the name of Googie Gomez in lights and joor goin' to say to joorself, "Was that her?" and then joor goin' to answer to joorself, "That was her!" But you know somethin' mister? I was always her yuss nobody knows it! - Googie Gomez

LOL.

Beergut is my handle on other forums, and I momentarily forgot which one I was using on here.

Oh well....

I usually wear a shirt mentioning Texas A&M in some way, trying to get a little advertising going in an LSU stronghold, so I've been called "Aggie" and "Howdy" while I'm shooting.

It's always better when they learn your name.

Thanks Odiousgambit. I'm very happy to be back. Work was insane. Then they had to debug the website cause my SN is too long. Thanks again to JB for the fix.

How's everyone been? Good gambling I hope. I'll be roaming the East coast for the holidays looking for a good craps game. Finally broke the losing streak and on a small win streak of 2 sessions, +1 and +2 bets respectively.
