Guido: Do you play craps? If so what is your betting scheme?

Very Close to your first method.
I most always increase my wagers or number of bets after a win.
I know it makes no difference to do that, but I do win more on the longer hands that way. I accept the higher -ev.
While in a long roll, at times I will place all number along with come bets and just come down with odds.

It works sometimes but most times I end up losing more with the place bets and should have stayed with just come and odds.

I have a friend who is a big don't bettor.
He says it is easy playing the don't pass and don't come.
No "place to lose bets" to even think about.

converted come bets is BAD advise and poor play! Period. Typical!
You are not telling the whole truth of come bets. They are a 2 stage bet NOT a one stage bet as are place bets. The only proper way to compare the two bets is by resolved wagers and same handle. period.

But come bets always WIN on a 7 or 11.
Place bets NEVER can.
In 100 come bets made, 22 of the come bets win! The do not ever have to go to a point number! Instant winnings!

Isn't saying the word period after a period redundant? (JK)

Anyway, you also aren't telling the whole truth.

In 100 come bets made, 11 of the come bets lose! The(y) do not ever have to go to a point number! Instant loosings!

I told the whole truth. Let me rephrase then.
100 come bets made. $5 bets.

22 WIN!
11 lose

Net winnings $55 even before getting to a come point.

67 go on to the point round and will win exactly as often as the same place bets.
That is the fact!

Place bettors think that $55 is nothing!
It is real winnings!
And it happens on every 7 and 11.

A place bet NEVER wins on any 7 or 11. Period.

This is starting to look like the old place bets vs. come bet story again.

Come bets all lose on a 7 out. Big deal.
That is just the second stage of a 2 stage bet. Come bets get 2 chances to win.
The place bets get only one chance to win.
Alan - place vs come

It looks that place bettors can win more short sessions than come bettors, but they lose more trying.
And come bettors have way larger wins than place bettors, same bets compared.

I like winning more and losing less.

The discussion in that other thread was very good. Not much is being accomplished here. He now all know that the come bet is a "better" bet in terms of odds than the place bet because on the come out roll for the come bet there is an "extra" chance to win in that 8 of 36 ways win and 4 out of 36 lose. You don't get this favourable way to win with the place bets. That's about all there is to it. Comps will be lower with a come bet strategy if your casino doesn't rate your odds, but that is something you have to consider in making your decision. Do you want to maximize comps or lower the HA of the game? You decide for yourself.

Here is a quick comparison on how close come bets are to place 6 or place 8. (the other place bets would be worse results, except buying the 4 or 10 and pay the vig on a win)

$30 come bets, NO odds- suicide!

VS.

$30 Place 8

1,000 resolved wagers.

Come bets win 493 ((244/495)*1000) out of 1000 on average.
wins $14790
losses $15210 (507*$30)
net -$420

Place 8 win 455 ((5/11)*1000) out of 1000 on average.
wins $15925 (455*35) Yes! Place bets win more!! No more proof needed!!!
losses $16350 (545*$30) Oh, Oh. Place bets lose more! Yuck!
net -$425

A place 6 or 8 can not even show better results against a come bet WITHOUT odds.
Would be even worse for the place bettor if the come bettor takes odds.

Do come bettors take odds?
Enjoy!

If I have a $10 come bet with 2X Odds, and the point wins, I'd probably keep the $30 bet up as a place bet so the number can pay off some more instead of having to re-establish it via Come bets.

If you had had another Come bet then it would have been "On" and "Off"; the dealer normally just pays out the profit. Otherwise the payout should get moved to the Come box, so just take everything down, except the next Come bet ($10 or press to say $15 if that's your style).
