maybe even "buy in ideas" or "paid rules" such as being able to pay the dealer to stand on 16, or buy the next card for his hard 17. ect.

You mean, like, you want somebody to, on the spot, come up with some great million-dollar idea, and then just give it away?

All my million-dollar ideas have already been taken. One day I'll think of one on my own.

It's messy to have rules that affect the dealer's hand, since then all players would have to participate. Try looking at the player's hand.

Maybe if we demand advanced payment...$500k/idea?

Yes - a couple - (Pair the Square, Lucky Ladies, Lucky Lucky, a few) - but then the whole side-bet field became really crowded.
If you look at the Wizardofodds.com blackjack side bet appendix, you'd see about thirty or so BJ side bets.
Distributors can't charge too much for them because side bets are relatively minor add-ons, and because the field is so crowded.
Additionally, a number of side bet add ons are public domain, no one can charge for them.

There are least twice as many side bets in BJ bouncing around than on the Wiz's list. I stand by my comment none has been very sucessful. Add them all together at any one point in time, then compared results against Switch. No contest. Is Streak or wheel of madness in play anywhere. Can any BJ side bet today survive unless Shufflemaster is pushing it ?

Meant BJ side bets as thread is about BJ. Royal match was Shufflemaster answer to making digital BJ a slot game.

I am actively testing that question, but generally the answer is yes. Lucky Ladies (Galaxy) has been around for a long time. Lucky Lucky (Gaming Network) is on several hundred tables.

Understood. I never figured out why over/under 13 never caught on. When I've seen it, the limit has been low enough to discourage counting it and casual players were betting it regularly.

For the same reason all BJ bets don't catch on. They suck and are a distraction to most BJ players. Ever had to suffer watching a dealer pimp Wheel of Madness to the sucker of the night? And had to sit there while the fool pushed the big button and cheered for the wheel to stop on a winner, YUCKY !!

I got one I got one, it's called Fate-Buster

1) Assume players #1-6, numbered in their order to act. In a 6 player table, only players #1-5 may participate.
2) If player stands 16 or below, or hits 16 or below and then busts, the bet is a push.
3) When a player's blackjack hand is 17-20 the following rules apply:
a) If player stands, the bet results in a loss
b) If player hits, calculate what the next person would have got if you hadn't stole his hit card. Payout according to the following table: if the neighbor would have made a:
20... pay 2 to 1
21... pay 5 to 1
c) A marker is placed to indicate a winning hand, however player is not paid until the neighbor's hand is played out. If neighbor busts, the payout is doubled. If neighbor makes 21 despite your best efforts, the side bet results in a loss.

Awesome!! Then the house can make even more money by selling tickets to the brawl!
