I play mostly 4d and 6d ( DD only 50 % pen )

To make it easier, just divide by the whole # of decks left ( no 1/2's)

4D - divide by 4, untill there ar only 3D's left , Divide by 3 untill there are only 2D's left ( never less than 2 because they cut at least 1 1/2 D's off)

6D- divide by 6 , untill there are only 5 D's left, divide by 5D's untill there are 4D's left , divide by 4D's untill there are 3 D's left, divide by 3D's, untill there are 2 D's left, ( never less than 2 because they cut at least 1 1/2 -2 D's off)

Would I be sacrificing any strength of the Hi-Lo but not dividing by the 1/2 decks remaining ?

By dividing by the higher # untill I was sure there has been 1 more deck dealt , helps me play more BS( relax, have a few drinks )

But also still know when I have the odds in my favor, to bet more or just make BS deviations (I18)

Technically you would be sacrificing a little by not dividing by half decks, but it's too little for you to worry about now. You'll probably sacrifice more by miscalculating the remaining cards in the shoe, the TC conversion or both. Get some casino cards, not store bought cards and practice estimating those decks. Your eyes can play tricks on you.

You mentioned relaxing and having a few drinks and for that I suggest you look into an unbalanced count which doesn't need a TC conversion. The KO Count has been shown to be fairly close to Hi-Lo without the extra work. What you lose with KO quite possibly could be recouped by the mistakes you won't be making with Hi-Lo. If you're an occasional player who just wants to get a leg up on the casino, there's no need to complicate matters. I think it would take a player of some skill to even notice the difference in return between the two methods.

After getting your feet wet, you can always "graduate" to another method which is what a lot of serious players do.
