I like to play 1-deck blackjack. Some casinos deal 2 cards at a time (players receive
both of their starting cards at once) but others deal them out separately in two
rounds (which seems better for shuffling). Why do some casinos prefer 2 cards
at a time?

Don't know why some casinos prefer 2 at a time, but it shouldn't matter*** .
***: Mathematically I think it shouldn't matter, but I would stop playing there if the same dealer dealt like that on some hands and then reverted to the other way you mention on other hands .
