So I was passing through Paso Robles a couple of days ago. I was on a trip I had taken to Stanford University to have a CT scan that was not yet approved by the FDA but was in a clinical trial. So as I went through Paso Robles on The way home, I was looking for someplace to eat. And lo and behold they have a casino there. I had passed another casino on the way up to Stanford from the LA area, but had no intention of stopping. But when the casino presented itself right in front of me in Paso Robles I said what the heck, I'll at least go in and check it out. It was nice to get out and walk around after driving 600 miles in the previous 24 hours.
It was a nice place but it was very small and there were no video poker or slot machines. They had one perhaps two blackjack tables, 6/5 and I think six-deck. And they also had a three card poker table and two live poker tables.
And this is one of those casinos that is backed by a company who have put up the money. There was no commission to pay per hand, and it wasn't an Indian casino.
Anyway, for fun, I went up to the cashier and ask if they had any incentives for new sign-ups. She said, "I can give you a matchplay". So she gave me a small cardboard-like disc about the size of a silverdollar that was a $10 match play. I noticed a lot of 10s out on the table when I walked up so I waited a round or two for some small cards to come out, and so they did. I placed my $10 free token onto the playing field, and the dealer said I had to put up $10 of my own money. I was the third player at the table to get cards, and my first card is an ace. Nice! A 51% advantage! Well, the dealer's up card is a two and I get another ace as my second card. I split and get paint on each one. The dealer busted and so I won $20 plus the free $10 since I won the hand. I cashed out and left the casino.
But I remember once when I went to Circus Circus some years ago and I played their promotion where you give them $30 and they give you $45 in one-way chips. I walked up to a blackjack table and put my stack of $45 in the betting square. It looked like a pretty big stack since it was made up of fifteen $1 chips and six $5 chips. The table was full of low rollers and they there was kind of a vibe in the air that I was something to behold--just plunking down one big bet. Well, on this occasion I had to split the hand and got garbage on each card. The dealer drew to a pat hand and my $90 was swept away.
What's the moral to this story? Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Haven't been to Vegas since the summer of 2017. Got my sixth back-off on that trip. But who's counting?
I'll have to go back, perhaps soon.

If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Casinostrike, welcome to the Forum.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

Thanks, Babs. Yes, this new scan that I took has a reputation for being more sensitive than mainstream scans. Things are well. Just passed through Gilroy earlier in the evening. Missed the mayhem by a couple of days.
Been playing a lot of chess at lichess. Same moniker as here. Almost 10,000 games in 2 and 1/2 years. I heard Madonna has played 19,000 and has an impressive rating. Apparently she has an IQ of about 140. I wouldn't have guessed that high.

Obviously a bot filling in the last word from key searches pushing casinos.
But a female profile seems to work all the time.
