I'm sorry it was posted too. I think Willy Allison lost his mind on this one.

hmm i wonder how they accomplish this without facial recognition
EDIT
It can recognize cards. It can recognize suits and what card is being played, and it can also interface with a smart shoe, McDevitt said during an educational session on casino video analytics and artificial intelligence. “If you’re using a smart shoe that’s reading the cards coming out, we can use that to improve the performance results of it.”
EDIT 2
I have a problem with reading things backwards -
above that last statement
"Dallmeier has installed similar technology over the last three years in Macau on 1,100 tables to protect baccarat. The firm showed off the blackjack technology at the conference’s expo at the Tropicana Las Vegas by running hands and demonstrating results."
HMMMM ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE IN LAS VEGAS AT ONE CASINO??? maybe they can have it at all casinos
EDIT 3
The guy who is selling the product :
“There are number of game protection reasons and there’s comping,” Allison said. “I can’t believe in 2019 we give back millions of dollars all over the world to our customers by guessing how many chips they’ve been playing.”
You only wish there was shotty people in the world
....
Im waiting for someone to tell me this guy isnt serious and he didnt pay someone to write this article to promote this whole thing and he doesnt know what hes talking about. if hes trying to sell it to the casinos it must be legal in more places than its illegal. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INTERFACING WITH THE SHOE.

This would be an absolute catastrophe for Juicy Jenny.
Quote: mcallister3200Wasn’t essentially the earlier version of this banned or discontinued in Nevada when they called it mindplay the first time around? Before my time but there was a lawsuit where eldorado in Reno was accused of using it as a cheating device. This certainly has the capability of being used as a cheating device by overzealous operators.
Yes. Bob Nersessian was involved
Basically Mindplay could tell when the count was high and would shuffle the cards. No one could play except during negative or neutral counts.
Bob argued this was cheating as the gameplay was being affected in a way that changed overall odds from normal play. The courts agreed I believe. Mindplay died a quick death

They didn’t agree they dropped the lawsuit

MindPlay never dies and I will always hold my viewpoint that not every casino has the ability to do this kind of stuff but the ones that do are scary as hell when you see what they can do with the cards when it is implemented. MindPlay was a company with a name that was rebranded to make people like everyone on this forum believe it “died a quick death”. Wrong.
EDIT 1
"MindPlay has been marketed by Bally Gaming as a system that gives pit bosses a real-time snapshot of the game by tracking wagers as well as each card dealt and played. The software works with optical scanning devices set into the table as well as coded playing cards."
In the state's filing for the dismissal, attorneys argued that there is nothing in regulations that enables Allen to sue and that Allen had not exhausted all potential remedies in his dispute with the Eldorado. The filing also said regulations "do not automatically prohibit the MindPlay device."
Nersesian disagrees. He said statutes clearly ban any device that assists in projecting the outcome of a game, keeping track of cards played, analyzing probability or strategy for playing or betting, and that includes casinos as well as patrons.
"The Control Board said the statute applies to patrons," he said. "But it doesn't say patrons, it says 'persons.' "
------ yeah ive seen enough ---------
Quote: mcallister3200So that link says that the gaming control board was dropped from the lawsuit as a defendant, not that the entire lawsuit was dropped. I couldn’t find a link to a resolution.
I’ll admit that on the mind play wiki that it states Bally discontinued MindPlay but once again a business isn’t its name it’s the intellectual property it has and the abilities to limit others from producing a product. The parents are the lifeblood of a business like that and their parents tell another story about the fact that they can give any player a customized house edge at any position they want.
Wikipedia says Mindplay died 2007 although due to mechanical and operational issues it was discontinued by Bally.
Nersessian mentions it in one of his books and I am pretty certain he claims to be the one responsible for its demise however I would have to go find the relevant chapter to refresh my memory
Either way unless Heatmap has some evidence otherwise Mindplay is dead

I’m not saying I won’t do this but I might have to get a list of the functionality that MindPlay has and correlate it to the current functionality Bally has with its current patents ... I’ll be back maybe I’ll make that into a post or something
