Quote: BozTo think on the day Dennis Hof died we are giving so much attention to a guy who will never be worth $100,000.
Then again, neither was Timothy McVeigh.
Prisons are filled with jailhouse lawyers and Vegas is filled with those who think they can beat the casinos.
But only 1 can ever be King. And only with a court of willing jesters amusing him.
Somewhere behind the former Communist block, along with a self professed Sorcerer in Summerland, very wealthy men are counting potential profits made from allowing this King to reign across this internet kingdom.
I wonder if they have any responsibility when the inevitable happens with this guy?
In the meantime, wise men debate legalities with a guy living in a bedbug infested tenement.
I only hope none of us are in the casino where it happens.
What's the inevitable with me? Please elaborate. You and Zcore said I would be under a bridge and gone from vegas by now. Why am I still here? My dad also said im gonna end up a bridge, he continues to be wrong. All of my friends doubted what am I doing, and how much have I made from this working part time and doing what I want while they are slaves to their alarm clock. Also who are you referring to as in 'lots of people live in vegas who think they can beat the casinos'? How much have I made in my career from counting cards again? Time for you guys to cut your losses and stop doubting the king.
Keep it coming.
Quote: WizardOkay, we're getting closer to our point of departure on this. I just served jury duty at wrote a long article about it just last month. Please read it. You'll note about 100 jurors were called into the courtroom in question, but neither attorney got to cherry pick from all 100. They pretty much went with the first 24, dismissed about five for various reasons, plucked the next people in line to fill their spots, and everybody else got dismissed, including me, having never been asked a direct question.
So, no, the defense attorney may not cherry pick from a huge pool who he wants on the jury. He can argue to dismiss some for good cause, but for the most part the jury is randomly chosen.
In the couple jury pools I was involved in, it was a much more intensive voir dire process. Of the initial pool of 50ish, 24 were asked to the courtroom. 15 were placed in the jury box for hours of questioning by attorneys from both sides. If anyone was dismissed for cause by the judge, they were replaced by one of the 9 who were not being questioned, and the process continued. At the completion of this, both defense and plaintiff attorneys took turns seating 9 jurors (from the 15), and I think both sides could strike a certain number.
So yes, they did get an opportunity to select, but from a limited pool.
At the risk of hijacking this thread, am I the only one that enjoys jury service? I find it fascinating, so different than my full time job.

Don’t need a please from you. It’s obvious i don’t like or respect you and the feeling is mutual I’m sure. I stopped communicating with someone I respect because they thought I should meet you. To see that you are not the person you pretend to be on here.
The inevitable? Only you can determine that. I’m just playing the odds like you do. All that anger at casinos cheating you have has to manifest itself in some way. But we can play without me getting suspended.
It’s a good bet you never have anything the general public considers as success in life. But you don’t want them, you are better than the general public. You don’t want a house, a retirement plan or a partner.
You think you are and want to prove yourself better than others. But by generally accepted measurements, you never will be. But you don’t accept them. You want to change the bar. But you lack the discipline to do it.
The inevitable? In my worthless opinion, a life of misery blaming others for how your life has turned out.
Then again this all may be an act. Either way you are entertaining. All good as long as no one gets hurt, other than your feelings. After all, many your age have thin skin.

Yea my life has turned out horrible compared to others right? Playing a card game part time the hours that I WANT with over 51k, no debt, car paid off, and knowledge about the laws of this country that maybe 1% understand. Not to mention traveling the world playing a video game professionally with all expenses paid. How many others have done that, let alone travel?Meanwhile people that have a 'normal job' and a 'normal life' are the ones that are correct, right? Being a slave to their alarm clocks and their boss and the last time I checked, all those people are broke and secretly miserable with their lives AND wives while also having kids when they cant even support themselves let alone a family LOL.
Also who are you to comment about people's feelings when you started off your response by saying that you cut off someone you respect completely just because he said to meet me? LOL. Im done. You are softer than charmin toilet paper.

Since you edited your post, I’ll add on. Nice to see you father is a wise man.
I’ll admit I was wrong about you living under a bridge. I totally messed up, I would have never guessed you would be living in a Bed bug infested tenement at this point after 15 months in Vegas, my mistake. I figured you would be smart enough to listen to people who offered to help you with other ways to add to your income. I figured you would be living off comp rooms all across the valley by now, while increasing your bankroll.
Yea, I never figured you would be actually playing the person you came across as before arriving in Vegas. Fighting with casinos, working less a week than the average homeless beggar on the overpasses. Hiding money in socks.
Perhaps, just perhaps if you were not so stubborn you wouldn’t be living slightly above the average homeless crackhead.
Yea, it’s good to be the king, lol.
- There’s a difference between a back off / being told to leave versus being trespassed.
- There’s a difference between not being able to play a game versus not being allowed on property.
- Assuming he’s right about the law where casinos are public spaces and they need “just cause” or whatever to trespass you, and I have no reason to believe what he’s saying isn’t true, then they can’t trespass you for counting cards.
- Having worked in a casino, I guarantee most casino employees know nearly nothing about any gaming laws. I’ve had pit bosses tell me that blackjack is cheating, casino doesn’t have to pay you for your chips, they don’t have to cash your TITO or pay your jackpot, and basically “private company = we can do whatever we want”. Also the signs that say something about an employee believing you’re committing fraud and can detain you — they think they can just make some s*** up and detain you.
- The few who may know the laws, are still a little iffy. They know counting isn’t cheating, but probably think they can arrest you for not following house rules. They know they have to pay your chips and tickets, but don’t think they do if you refuse ID. They think it’s both state and federal law that you have to have ID while in a casino and you must show ID if asked. I’ve heard multiple dealers, floor, and PBs say they don’t arrest card counters because it’d be bad for business (no s***, doing illegal stuff is bad for business).
- Idk about all the income tax stuff. I think it’s mostly grey area.
- There’s a difference between how a law is handled versus how it’s supposed to be handled. Just because you can get arrested for counting cards doesn’t make it illegal. The same (might) apply to income taxes and/or being 86’d or asked to leave a casino — you can get arrested for returning, but that doesn’t necessarily make it illegal.

You obviously value success by how much you earn regardless of what you do as long as you make money, which is why you and everyone else are secretly miersable, but obviously wont come out and say it. Good luck taking your millions to the grave. The only thing anyone will have on their death bed will be the memories they reated and what they're most proud of that they've done in their lives. The only thing everyone runs out of in this life is TIME. I choose to use my TIME to not be a slave to my boss and my alarm clock and waste my most precious years doing something I hate for a paycheck. I rather use this time to work the hours I want and make enough to live comfortablly and enjoy my life. I will say this though, there's nothing wrong working for someone else as long as you enjoy it or have some love for what you're doing, otherwise your life is just being washed away in lieu of a paycheck.
By the way, bed bugs are gone and I completely fixed up and remodeled the apartment in the past 2 weeks. Looks good to me now and Im happy. Also you realize I dont have to be living in these places right, but that's what separates me from the rest. I have too much patience, sacrifice, and dedication and know where Im going. Cheers.

Yeah, same. I don’t get why people don’t want to do it, barring missing work because you live paycheck to paycheck, or a legitimate reason like that.

The formality of it freaked me out. The judge belittled anyone with an obviously dumb excuse not to be there. One girl didn't come back from lunch break so he made a big deal about a warrant or something (probably trying to scare the rest of us). Another guy made a fuss about having to come back the following day and the judge threatened him with something. Also, just imagining the pressure of deciding someone else's fate really made me think. The whole thing just felt too much like all those days in the principal's office.

I can understand how that would be a poor experience. That's not at all how the judges have been in my two opportunities (I was seated on the jury one, and not the other). On both occasions the judges seemed to go overboard to thank the jurors and prospective jurors, and make us as comfortable as possible.

I actually have a lot of respect for some of the people on here who are much smarter than me in other areas such as the mathematics of everything as well as others I have met who are able to gain an edge through various different channels. I just wish more people were more understanding and inquisitive of what is going on around them on a legal basis. That's where the drone thing comes from, but again it's more aimed at the robots we have out there in the world who literally dont have a clue about anything other than celebrity gossip, drinking, partying, etc.

I never said my bankroll was anything to be proud of, at least not in the monetary sense. There's many as you have noted before, that make what I have in a month or whatever. Thats not the point. The way I got it there, is definitely something im very proud of. I used to work 2 jobs, grind low stake blackjack after work with trips to PA, grind through the high variance that ap blackjack entails, as well as never losing my head or discipline throughout, and last but not least save up as much as I could just so I can go to Vegas and do something I believed in. I was even BREAK EVEN after my first 600 hours of blackjack play. How many would have quit after that? Not to mention the swings and adversity immediately when I got here with everyone also doubting me in the process including friends and family, and still never losing my head while playing, never over betting, and most importamtly never giving up.
Also did you just call me a millenial? If you want to use stereotypes, how many millenials hace my point of view on economics and the way I live my life? How many credit cards do I have, how many handouts have I received, and how many loans have I taken out. Also you also had the audacity to say im not willing to work hard? Yeah, i guess qorking two jobs and grinding a bankroll to what it is, driving 1.5 hours each way to PA and back after work, all the while being able to SAVE as much as I could(how many millenials know what saving even means).

Obsessing on politics every day or getting worked up about the failings of the masses, real or percieved, is as foolish as worrying about the lives of celebs.
Neither gives you anything but distraction and aggregation.

Politics was a poor word choice. What I mean is just having a sound understanding of law, the Constitution, and the history of this country. They also have no appreciation for the freedom they have due to what our founding fathers went through to achieve it. Sitting back and letting someone else worry about it in future generations is not how we got our freedom in the first place.
Quote: ZenKinGWhen did I ever say I dont leave after being told to leave. See this is the problem I have when posting on these forums. People dont remember or simply mis-state what I have said. I ALWAYS leave the premises after a backoff. This thread was about TRESPASSING and the legality of a casino being able to cite you for a criminal trespass, which by now you know they cannot if you've done nothing wrong (disturbing the peace, disorderly, destruction of property) etc, while you were in there.
I only skimmed through all this stuff, but this one caught my eye. Since you always leave when asked, why does this issue occupy so much space in your mind?
It seems so simple:
-Play cards for as long as you want or until asked to leave
-When asked to leave, go somewhere else for a while and come back some time in the future
How does such a simple concept devolve into pages and pages of nonsense?

Because Ive lost a couple of good games already due to a threat of trespass, one of which i never even got a backoff, they just went straight to trespass(SLS). No coincidence that SLS is changing owners AGAIN. Braindead management
Idly fretting about it is the same thing people obsessed with sports or celebs do. It's worrying about a drama over which you have no influence, instead of the areas of your real life where you have a lot of influence.
Surprisingly we usual do this to cling to negative states, like anger.

how do you feel about ian anderson's approach to counting cards? have you read his two books?
his approach is to develop good relationships with casino personnel, and not look at it like a war.
his approach is that the casino is his office, the dealers and floor staff are his customers, and the customer is always right. he goes out of his way to never make an enemy inside a casino. if accused of counting, he plays dumb. if asked to leave, he leaves gracefully, acting dumbfounded.
he never feels the need to use his mastery of what amounts to a simple card game as an ego boost. he understands that casino staff, even when misinformed and wrong, are human beings just trying to make a living, and treats them with the appropriate respect.
so, pretty much the exact opposite on all counts of your approach.
my second question is which approach do you think works better to:
1. get the money,
2. lead a happier life?
Yes, we all know money isn't evrything and it won't always make people happy but it sure can help.
Quote: AxelWolfGetting the money helps lead to a happier life for many people.

A wise man once told me “Money doesn’t buy happiness, but there sure is a hell of a lot out there for rent”. Some of the wisest words ever spoken.
We all only have an indeterminate amount of time on this Earth. Maybe some of us need to learn to be less angry about others choices that don’t affect us. Starting with me.
Quote: ZenKinGFirst thing you do once you're encountered with the casino or shift manager is you get out your smartphone and discreetly record the interaction with a voice app. You don't even have to let them know you're recording because they aren't cops and in some states, you actually have to let the cop know you're recording them. You then simply ask the casino, shift manager, or security guard in the moment, "What happens if I come back or come back and play"? They'll then say "Well, we will have you arrested" BOOM, this is where you have them and they just committed a major federal offense
Hello. Thanks for your work. I know all to well what it's like to be in the "right" but to be ridiculed and tarnished by the masses unwilling to think through even the slightest logical point. Usually this involves human trafficking but I won't bore you.
FYI regarding creating evidence of a wrongful etc. interaction, there is an application out there (free) which keeps your phone screen black/off but is in fact recording both video and audio. I'll find the name if you were unaware of same, think it might make an interesting addition to your protection, and don't find it with a quick search. Kind regards.

If I pretend to be an a-hole will you hook me up with some golf comps? I'll gladly take a crack at your blackjack games for free golf. My brother in law is turning 40 in spring and we're looking for a venue.
If you could have NCAA betting ready by March, that would be awesome.

Lol. At the last place I worked I could do that sort of thing. Not where I'm at now. Everything (almost) is strictly on comps earned on you account. As a matter of fact, in most cases of you want a room, even after playing heavy, you have to get a card if you want it comped.
There won't be legalized gambling here in March either. There's not even talk of it at this time. I wish though. I KILL UFC odds.

The issue was semantic. You putting *OFFICIAL* preceding the title of your thread strongly implied it was forum management generated, when in fact it was your perspective and your stance is actively NOT supported by the Wizard.
So I redacted the word to remove the implication.
You've had plenty of people with more expertise than I refute or support your position. I generally stay out of issues for which I have nothing except uninformed opinion to offer, as I have this one. Expect that to continue.
No personal stance or attack intended. Just administrative management of the forum.

First of all, I would like to thank ZenKing for creating this thread as it inspired an article. Honestly, I thought I wrote an article about getting thrown out of a casino for Defiant Trespass and having to face the Magistrate to address those charges. I must not have, though, or maybe I wrote it for LCB.
Anyway, here it is, it seems a few people have enjoyed it so far:

Thanks again to ZenKing for the inspiration and I hope anyone who reads it enjoys it. If anyone has any questions, that's fine and I'll do my best to answer, but I can only really speak to my own experience.
