Total Bust Blackjack is a blackjack variant by our own MrCasinoGames. It has two main rule changes:

1. If the dealer busts with 26, the blackjack wager pays 2 to 1. A dealer bust on 23 to 25 pays 3 to 2.
2. An "Odds Win" side bet is mandated at half the blackjack wager. It pays 2 to 1 if the player starts with an odd total and wins.

I actually did an analysis of this one, which came in close agreement with the report by Charles Mousseau.

There is the usual delay getting strategy images up on WoO, but I'll hotlink them here for now. As you can see, the strategy depends on whether you started with an odd or even total.

As usual, I welcome all questions and comments.

The question for the poll is would you play Total Bust Blackjack?

I vaguely remembering looking at a similar Odds pay 2/1 game a while ago (it only paid 1/1 for dealer busting) but, similar to what you have, there were some minor changes in the strategy depending on whether you started Odd or Even.

For instance you can't Double 10 with an odd starting hand, but you can get to doubling 11 with an even starting hand (assuming DDAS, e.g. 8-8 then 3).

I found it easier to highlight the cells which were different depending on whether you had started with an even or odd total - remembering that sometimes you can get there by having split. It made it easier to remember one strategy with a handful of either/or decisions to remember.

So in this case
(i) the double 11 line would have mostly D's with a "depends" opposite an Ace
(ii) the double 8 would have four D's (3-6) since you could never be in a position to double 8 having started odd (assuming no 3-card doubles).

In a Blackjack game, the initial 2-card hand total EVEN is more likely.

Yes - that was it, personally I quite liked my diagram for that.
Note : The diagram below is for "Open 21" not the game in this thread.
This game would only have ten columns rather than all the ones used in the Double Exposure game.

My first reaction was, I don't want to memorize two different strategies. But there is really not that many differences once you study the charts. So, yes, I am intrigued. My only hesitation would be how frustrated I could become if losing too many odds bets due to the even initial hand.

I invent a lot of New Table Games.
