I was wondering if anyone knew what the effect of dealer standing on 16 and hitting on soft 16 would be with regular blackjack rules?
Thx

Edit: 16? Better wait for a math guy.
It seems like it's been done before with Double Up Blackjack so trying not to reinvent the wheel:

Currently, the dealer busts on about 30% of all hands, the exact value depends on the number of decks and the rule about Hit/Stand on Soft 17. Given your proposed rule: Dealer Stands on 16 then I roughly estimate that the dealer will Bust on only about 21.5% of all hands.
On the other hand, the dealer would wind up Standing on 16 on about 14% of all hands.
Clearly, to evaluate the effect of Dealer Stands on 16, we would need to evaluate a new optimum strategy for the player. For example, player would probably Hit a 12-15 versus a dealer 6. And player would probably stand on 16 in most situations, including 16 vs 7-A. So it's a very significant analysis because it is necessary to calculate a new basic strategy.
Edit: The Double Up Blackjack analysis referenced in the post above is indeed very helpful, however its rule is a "Push 16" rule in which all live player hands will automatically push if dealer gets a 16. I think that OP is proposing that a dealer 16 will lose to a player 17-21, and push against a player 16.

Yeah I guess I misread it ughhhh. Thought it had already been done before...if someone else cares to do we can share results. Sounds like it could be significant roughly 10-15%.

The player will have an edge of about 6.76% depending on the other rules accounting to this post.

Miplet, did that analysis include reoptimization of player strategy?
